It's because the Dallas Cowboys attract more viewers/clicks etc. Demariyus Thomas told the Broncos he'd give them a "great hometown discount" before all this began. Now it's confirmed he wants a contract that exceeds Calvin's. How on earth this is a hometown discount is beyond me,

Funny how Dez is the only player being talked about nationally, while Thomas and Houston are barely getting mentioned.

Well to be fair Dez is the only player to come out and say he is going to sabotage his team if he doesn't get what he wants. There is no other reason to sit after tomorrow other than to try to hurt the Cowboys for not signing him long term.

Neither guy is worth near that and shouldn't get more that 13.5 a year. If they want more dez will be tagged this year and if he sits out games he will be traded. If not and he can't go for it next year he will be tagged again and then traded. Thomas on the other hand is worthless to the Broncos after this season. Peyton will be gone and they will be weaksauce.

I fully expect Dez to play all 16 games whether he signs the tender tomorrow or not.

But, lets say that he does sit out games and reaches 4,5,6+. IF it comes to that, I am not so sure I even would want him back on this team.

This also sucks because I have a nice, new 88 game jersey to wear week one!

On another note: what are the rules regarding player trades once they sign the franchise tag? Would Dallas be bold enough to ship him off if/when he comes back mid-season?

I agree,

You know, it would be different if we had been winning playoff games and maybe a few SBs.

But we haven't. We haven't really proven anything yet.

I do feel we will have a strong year and I expect to be in the hunt. But the Cowboys are trying to break a 20 year drought! Its gonna take a whole lot of sumthin sumthin to make that happen. And the culture change is showing up on the field.... At this point, you jump on this train of momentum, or just go away......

Garrett(with alot of help) is gonna take us back to the promise land. with or without Dez.

This discussion has been going on for several months. I've read valid points on both sides of the fence on this issue.

People talk about his off the field issues (was there a tape or not?) Did the Jones' help cover it all up? Don't know nor will we ever know if anything happened. I agree, Dez is a liability off the field but so were other past and present players.

Regarding Dez's on the field production:

Is Dez a game changer? No doubt.

Is Dez a play maker? Of course.

I believe everyone here on this board agrees Dez has a right to ask what he expects to be paid. Also, everyone on this board knows the NFL is a business and the team/front office has the right to decide what is best for the team in the future.

Recently, the NBA offseason started with a boom with billions of dollars going to high targeted FA. Some teams chose to pay and some teams chose to do the best they could with what they had.

Do I think Dez chose the wrong sport to make his millions to take care of his family? Of course I do.

We all agree the life span of an NFL player is shorter than a NBA player. We also agree the NFL is a totally different animal/business than the NBA but the direction each team takes in both leagues is the same. Putting the best players they can on the field to win the ultimate prize. A championship.

I really like the direction and change the Cowboys front office is taking. I believe it's a great business decision if they hold on.

Will it be disappointing if Dez chooses not to play if no deal is reached? Of course. Is it possible Dez might get paid else where if the Cowboys let him walk? Most likely.

We have to consider teams with players that Dez expects to be paid like. Are they any productive than the recent team that won a title this year without a game changing and play making WR? No.

They obviously have a great QB, coaching staff and a front office that knows how to put a team together to win.

I really believe my Cowboys are starting to do the same thing and I am so excited to see what becomes of these recent decisions and player additions the front office put together this offseason.

Dez is a beast on the field and probably a top 10 or top 5 WR in the league.

The real question should be:

Do the Cowboys allow a player dictate how they run their business which obviously goes against their new philosophy of handling the business side of things? I think not.

OH IT IS - WHY GIVE HIM ANY LEVERAGE -

Why intentionally stick the best player on the team and pay him 13 million dollars in the twilight of Romo's window for some hardware? Oh right, because we should punish him for wanting to cash in on his hard work.

because if the player does not want to play - why let him - so sorry DEZ you will only see the bench this year

oh I 'd pay the man

13 mil

but why give him leverage for next year ? so he can get 16 mil a year

The offer has gone from 10 million to 12.8 million per year. He wants more. He must be watching Ballers!

IF and if he gets this big contract - in 3 years we will be calling for his head.

Hey, that's get the Rock down to Dallas to help sign DEZ !!!!

That would be stupid. But if he skips games during the regular season, that's another matter especially if it's a lot. If he doesn't want to play then he can sit.
