I'm getting sick of this, I hope he doesn't get a long term deal and signs with some bottom feeder next season for a boat load of cash.

WRs importance to overall team success is severely overrated.

If signing Dez means we can't resign Martin or Fred down road, then good riddance.

If he really wants to be signed by tomorrow, then sign the freakin' contract!
If Dallas really wants this to go away, add 2-3 million to his guaranteed money and put the ball in his court again!

I'm so sick of reading about this situation. I want Dez playing for the Cowboys. I do not want Dez's contract preventing us from being competitive in the future after this one season. I'm happy for tomorrow to come and go, whatever it brings.

chuck it is about more than money per year.
The cowboys want supervision on dez and voids of G money if he screws up.
Dez wants no supervision and no or less voids of G money if he screws up.

Dez basically wants it all,
1. top pay 16 mil a year
2. 40 mil G no voids
3. no supervision
So he gets paid 16 mil a year and can miss meetings, practices, or be late.
He can get in trouble or suspended with no voids of G money.

The cowboys dont want to pay top dollar with no protections for them if he does mess up , or act up, or get in trouble.

That is why the like the tag, no risk to them while he is unsupervised.
Under tag they only risk the one years pay.
If Dez had matured and presented himself as upstanding guy these past few years , they would be offering a different contract.

If these demands are any or all of Dez's original thoughts and not propaganda from Tom Condon, this smells like the beginning of the end of a great relationship between Dez and the Cowboys. I hope no one does or says anything that cannot be walked back. He is worth 3 to 4 games by himself.

I am not saying we can't win for sure. But even the biggest homer has to realize that we are a better team with Bryant than without. And there's often a slim margin in the NFL between being a playoff team or not.

we really dont know, we need to see the cowboys [ current team ] without him to decide that.
It is possible they would be better without him, I know most will think that is crazy, but cowboys whole game plan would change without dez,

If williams is the #1 guy he might be totally different, knowing the team is now relying on him, beasely and TE's get more targets, and street and other
WR get a shot.
you never know till it happens.

I agree. I like Dez and he makes the Cowboys a better team no doubt. I don't think Dallas fate rest in the hands of Dez he avgs 5 catches a game where on avg there are 60 offensive snaps. Clearly not having him would put more pressure on Romo to get all other WR involved in the game along with the running game.

Again I want to see him signed and I fully expect him to be in camp and play. Many things get said in contract negotiations and much of it is a player letting off steam, once everything is settled I'm certain that he and the team will act as if this was never a big deal. We all saw other players hold out in the past like Emmitt and things were said by him but when the deal got done Emmitt attitude towards the team and the organization attitude towards Emmitt was great.

Well with Emmitt , he didnt need supervision or have off field issues !
That is the whole problem relating to dez, not just money.
Emmitt got the money he wanted, and it wasnt that much ,so he was happy, and no salary cap or franchise tag back then.

Dallas needs to let dez sit if he wants , and see how they do without him.

Dez is not in a position to negotiate. He can sit games out and he can cry about his contract. If I am the cowboys I gave him a well structured deals with protections against suspensions and team meetings. If he doesn't accept it - I franchise him next year and start grooming the younger receivers.

We should have known no deal would get done once Mike "The Mush" Fisher opened his mouth and said a deal was close...that clown hasn't been right once

Yeah I was figuring $14 mil per year.
Guarantee $$ ?? money and put this puppy to bed.

it isnt just the money, there are other issues like G $ being voided if he gets in trouble, late or misses meetings or practice etc.
Evidently early on dez would be late or not show at all lol.
And they still think or know this could occur.

7 hours to go ! lol

Hey Gimme, can you sign me up for one of those trust funds that pay 1 million a year like Iverson ?

Well . . . yeah. I am not a certified accountent or broker or nothing but I half watched a lot of Storage Wars episodes and i know money management. Are you looking for quick riches or investments in gradual (boring) returns in the Pacific rim and turkish exchange domains?

Meanwhile, Demaryius Thomas....

Thomas said earlier this year that while playing under the franchise player tag was not preferable, he would do it because he believes the team is a Super Bowl contender.

"As a player, you want to get a deal, but if it doesn't happen you just got to deal with it," Thomas said. "You just go out and play. I'm still going to play, still going to put my best game up, not going to do anything to hurt the team. I'm going to go out and put my best game up and have another great year."
