I do agree with Swann and Stallworth though.

Yeah, I said it. Zero All-Pro teams. Five of 12 seasons at .500 or below. Barely more touchdown passes (165) than interceptions (141). Hisapproximate value on pro-football-reference ranks No. 167 overall, behind Warrick Dunn, Ricky Watters, Steve McMichael, Henry Ellard, Randall Cunningham, Boomer Esiason, Drew Bledsoe, London Fletcher, Dave Krieg, Donovan McNabb and so many other ridiculous names. Brad Johnson has more touchdown passes as does Jon Kitna, Chris Chandler and Jim Everett and, well, so many other ridiculous names. His passer rating is 49th in league history. He has three Super Bowls? Great. That’s one more than Eli Manning. Aikman was a fine NFL quarterback. He was a very fine NFL quarterback. At points he was a superb NFL quarterback. He was not a Hall of Fame quarterback.

Bullet Bob is in more for his two gold medals at the 1964 Olympics than his on-field exploits. We’re talking about a guy who only led the league in receptions three times. Oh, did I say league? I meanthis own team.Yes, Hall of Famer Bob Hayes only led the Dallas Cowboys in receptions three times. Hardly the stuff of a HOFer.

I do agree with Swann and Stallworth though.

i get really tired of the Swann Stallworth thing - mostly because everyone tries to use them as evidence that other sub-elite WR do belong.

I said it in the Woodson HoF thread, they can put anybody they want in the HoF, for any reason. The HoF is not necessarily the best players. It is not necessarily the players who had the best stats. It is whoever they want to put in. Debating whether someone already in should be in, or whether someone not in is being unfairly kept out, is pointless. About all you can do is say "so and so would/wouldn't be in MY HoF".

It is true Aikman ain't got the numbers other than the most wins of any QB in the 90's I think.

Here's a stat for you. Other than his first starting year and the year he hurt his shoulder, Romo has never thrown less TD's than Aikmans best year. (23)

Romo should surpass 100 more TD passes than Aikman this year.

Romo 242
Aikman 165

Bob Hayes invented zone coverage.

Shut up, moron.

Three Super Bowls kind of offsets five losing seasons. Do you not understand QBs of his ilk get drafted by the worst teams?

USA isn't selling newspapers, and this is what it's come to.

Joe Namath is in the HOF with more picks than TDs. I do think he belongs because of the impact he had on the game. He is one the reasons for for NFL's rise in popularity in the 60's. Sometimes you need to look at more than stats.

IIRC Aikman has the highest career playoff QB rating in NFL history. Outside of the 94 NFCCG he was a flawless postseason performer.

As they say, big time players make big time plays in big time games.

Haven't run the numbers but that might have been true if he didn't play another game after the last Super Bowl. Unfortunately, he did and he sucked horribly (2TD, 8INT the rest of the way). Even with all of that factored in, he's still Top 20 all time.
