Jim Kelly. Dan Marino. Plenty of others had stats fairly competitive with todays. As usual you are wrong- it was the 70's when passing was really hard. 1978 was the first step towards today and it was a steady progression. By the mid 90's todays QBs would have had comparable stats if not quite as good. Aikman was a bus driver most of the time but the real difference was in the playoffs when he did step up. So yes he does belong in the HOF but not because of what he did in the regular season. Pretty much the exact opposite of Dan Marino.Aikman played in a different era why does that not compute with some of you? The rules were much different back in the 90's they didn't help the passing game like they do now and besides Aikman's 3445 yards back in 92 was only 260 yards less than what Romo passed for last season. It shows when you have a prolific running game led by the leagues top rusher it's going to keep a QB's passing yards down. Aikman only had 23 TD's that season because Emmitt scored 18 rushing TD's. Emmitt being second all-time in TD's kept Aikman from throwing many TD's and Irvin from catching many TD's.
