Jordy Nelson Torn ACL

This is getting to the point where you don't even care about getting quality work in anymore ... just get out of training camp and the preseason alive.

If this is the reality, give us 18 regular season games. The Preseason is just stupid. Can you imagine if that happens to a guy like Dez for us?

That GB / Pitt game could be devastating for both teams. Pouncey was carted to the locker room for the Steelers with an ankle injury.

It just be hysteria, but I think the limited contact in practices hurts players more now it used to when you could kill them with two a days. Seems like more non-contact soft tissue injuries. Maybe they are training differently also since they are basically doing much more on their own.

Hell, you could be right about the limited contact. I see the increase in hamstring, groin, etc. injuries as likely due to increased training, diet etc. pushing the boundaries in the off season.

Injuries like Nelson's might happen no matter what, like you said. Some of the other injuries in that game, from players getting rolled up on are what can be avoided by holding out starters in the PS games.

What I do know is that fans are terrified of injuries in the pre season and everything that happens is pointed to as reason to not play the starters. However, they have to get ready too.

Yes, because torn ACL(s) are a way to get revenge. I would rather just beat them again...

Would rather beat them again? If I recall they beat us the last time we played them. It's been a few years since the Cowboys beat the Packers.

Never draft before the third preseason is played. I can't believe people still do that.

And a lot of them do.

I participated in a league last year that did and I ended up with Ellington, who had this foot problem that hurt him all year and Wes Welker who preseason concussion ruined his season. :(

That is true, however that was an even matchup. In the NFL, someone has to win.

They've beaten the Cowboys in uneven matchups they beat us 2 years ago at Cowboys stadium with Matt Flynn at QB.

That's a really interesting point. I just don't recall in the 70's or 80's guys going down like that without contact and you're right - it is soft tissue. Hamstrings, ACL's, MCL's, patellas, bicep tears. Season ending stuff on just running around and cutting.

Maybe it's all the off season stuff - but it's really scary waiting for the shoe to drop.

Sucks man. But with that QB throwing to Cobb and the young guy Adams as the key targets, I'm guessing they'll be ok once they adjust. Still, it's a bummer for them. Hate to see it.
