lol, I know we have some with little confidence in T. Williams but I'm willing to go on the record that I think he will do a great job subbing for Dez. Clearly Dez is the better WR hands down but I think Williams will be able to take on this challenge. He has worked all training camp and pre season in the 1 spot working with Romo and the routs will be different in that 1 spot than he would run as the #2 WR. I expect a big game from T. Williams

Can't wait to see our speed when we get Brice Butler on the field with TWill, Beasley, and Dunbar, etc. That's a lot of speed. Even LWhitehead has speed.

Dallas Cowboys wide receiver Terrance Williams is the "next guy up" for injured wideout Dez Bryant.
The former Baylor standout has been the No. 2 to the talented playmaker since entering the league in 2013, but is now poised to be the new No. 1 for quarterback Tony Romo.
“These are the moments you train for,” Williams said, via ESPN Dallas. “I don’t have any pressure. I’ve just got to go out there and run the plays that Coach calls and Tony gives me. Stick to my fundamentals and play fast, that’s what got me here.”
This offseason, Williams got plenty of work in at the X receiver position with Bryant not participating in the offseason workout program. Bryant was holding out of OTAs and minicamp because of his unhappiness with his franchise tagging. That just meant more work and opportunity for Williams and other Cowboys receivers to get better.
Williams has gotten plenty of reps at the X receiver position, and head coach Jason Garrett doesn't seem to be too concerned with any switch.
"I don't know that there's a significant difference,'' Garrett said on playing X or Z receiver. "Each of those guys have a route tree within our offense that is probably pretty similar.
"It's an age old discussion in the NFL that the best receiver, does he always play X or Z? Jerry Rice, arguably the greatest football player of all time, was a Z. So anybody who says your best guy always plays the X, we always bring up the Jerry Rice example.
"Different offenses use guys in different ways. Most of the routes that we run with the X we run with the Z, so I don' think it's a huge difference.''
Last season, primarily as the Z receiver, Williams caught 37 passes for 621 yards and eight touchdowns. Bryant caught a whopping 16 touchdowns. What can Williams do help make up for the loss of Bryant who's expected to be out anywhere from four to 12 weeks?

I worry more about Williams confidence than skill set. He needs to mentally step up.

Cole Beasley and Escobar, along with the tailbacks catching out of the backfield will have to step up the most. Williams and Witten are going to draw the most attention, obviously. If Romo just keeps taking what the defense gives him, and we dont have random turnovers, eventually we will be able to go deep to Williams.

oh...and We should throw our important 3rd down slants to Escobar, not williams.

Got to love a game where you get the chance to money line the Cowboys $$$$$$$$

Part of my optimism for this weekend comes in the fact that Dez missed so much time this offseason between threatened to hold out and the preseason hamstring injury.

TWill and company got plenty of work without Dez and should fair well. This won't be like Arizona without Romo.

When was it, a few years ago, Dez had the tendon or bone issue in his hand. He decided to forgo surgery until after the season. But TWill stepped upped, played great, and has had some huge catches for us over the past few years, well, even in his rookie year.
I have no doubt he can handle this, and it helps a lot to have a QB like Romo back there.

They need to give him some routes that don't result in an extremely high degree of difficulty to make the catch. He really only dropped 1 ball last week. Only the other plays the defender got his hand on the ball to bat it down.

The 1 play where he did drop it was a very high degree of difficultly. He was running full speed across the field and when the ball was thrown to him, he was basically running directly into the ball. As in the old physics problem of when 2 trains are headed directly for each other, their speed relative to each other is 2x. Romo had to really fire the ball in because there was a 2nd defender in front of Williams.

Please Tony, please let Escobar showcase his skills. His hands, feet and size vs LB's or Safeties.

TWill is going to get an opportunity vs the awful Philly secondary anyways.

Where is Louran Robinson now a days? Not sure if I spelled his name right.

Laurent Robinson retired do to severe concussion issues. He had to sit in a dark room all day for a long period of time due to the concussions.

Oh wow I didn't know that. I remembered him with all this talk surrounding our wide outs. He had a solid year with us then disappeared off the face of this world.

Look at the playoffs last year.. He was beast.

I don't think he'll be the chain mover that Dez is but the big play potential is there with or without Dez.

I think Cowboys have some good chain movers they can turn too. I just think some of those shorter routs will come T Williams way and I think his run after catch ability will be a big factor

I dont think were going to ask TWILL to do anything outside of what he has been doing. Which is pretty solid. The ball will go around to others. The TEs might see more balls, Dunbar(he looked good).....maybe some more rushing attempts(i really hope thats the case). And TWILL gets a few more looks....

Romo is going to the open guy.

I dont think he forces it to TWILL, like he would force it, if DEZ were playing. Sometimes, you throw it to DEZ even if he is covered....I dont think Romo does that with TWILL.

I don't expect Tony to force it but I do think Williams will be the 1st option on most pass plays.

I love that route.

Reminds me of Alvin Harper in the NFC Championship game vs. the Niners.

I still holler out "We're goin' to the superbowl!" :)
