Ian Rapoport: Dez now out 10-12 (pure speculation)

If Romo has another year in him after this one, we can't let this happen again. Prioritize getting a significant WR in the offseason.

For once I agree with you. It's early but I'd like that receiver from Cal... Lawler(?)

As bad as this news is, the best way to handle it is to allow it to heal 100%. Many don't realize that the 5th metatarsal extends well into the foot. It's not just the pinky toe. WR's take a beating on their feet and to rush Dez back would be foolish. It could have long term implications if not handled properly. Sometimes you just have to face facts for the eventual greater good.

If you want to take a positive from this, the rest of the receiving corps will become a more experienced unit. This is a hard pill to swallow but there is light at the end of the tunnel, however faint it may seem.

If he really needed a bone graft he unfortunately may not return this season

Rather use a high pick 1st or 2nd round on a qb (if he's worth it).

Yeah, we have to make the playoffs this year without Dez Bryant.

I don't think they can do it. They had a lot of luck last year and I didn't think they'd have the same luck this year. So far that's been the case.

Now on the flip side, if they do make it and then get Dez back for the playoff run, fear the Cowboys.

You don't think we can do it without Dez? SHOCKER!

I agree gonna be hard to win w/o your best on the field. Talk about a downer first thing on game day...

But I thought the team said 4-6 weeks?! I thought all those random medical experts people talked to didn't know what they were talking bout?

This is why this forum needs to stop getting their panties in a bunch when they take for granted what the team says because they ALWAYS get this wrong.

This info goes against what Jerry and Garrett have said this week as far as timeline. Can't see why Rappaport would completely make this up but we will see. I guess Jerry and/or Jerry will address this new "info" today.

He either had a bone graft or he didnt. If he did then there's nothing left to speculate, he's out 10-12 weeks if not longer.

Just let them play the games.... Romo has been playing phenomenal football lately, and Brady has been winning with scraps at WR for years. This injury may in fact force other players to step up and elevate their game. Garrett tends to excel in helping the players process adversity.

We're obviously a more talented team with Dez on the field-- but when you have a QB playing as well as Romo is right now, you can hang with any team in the league.

When will people realize that low balling injuries is VERY COMMON within this organization. Hell, the team said Romo was "day to day" after the herniated disc.

Roddy White and Julio states Dez wouldn't return for the season. I'm thinking this is actually the most likely scenario.

And this is why I said last year was our opportunity.

Gonna watch the games faithfully and still make the trip to Arlington in Novemver but this wasn't what I wanted to wake up to by a random text.

If this happened during the original surgery, and they didn't IR him, the the team is just stupid.

Yeah. At least the 8 week IR.

Anyway, if true, best case scenario is 10 weeks which is 9 games plus the bye. Can we go 6-3 or 5-4? If so, we will still be in the division race with 6 games left.

Weeks 14-17 gives him plenty of time to hit stride heading into the playoffs.

I don't think you understand. He had a bone graft. He is NOT coming back with "plenty of time to hit stride." That 10-12 weeks time frame is also VERY optimistic. Unless we make the playoffs, Dez most likely is done for the season.
