Now only 6 weeks for Dez?

Well, he had the surgery on the 14th or 15th of Sept. So, it is one week already and, hopefully, he will be back in 3-5 more weeks. That is, if the 4-6 week initial time frame was accurate, or things have changed since then and new information is available, or the team was blowing smoke. We will just have to wait and see. That is about all any of us know.

One more thing we do know is that Dez is itching to get back and will play as soon as the doctors clear him.

Didn't JJones say they thought he might be working out in 3 weeks? Dez and the team have been pretty optimistic throughout.

If it is a pain management issue I wouldn't bet against Dez.

Well, if he's back sooner than expected, it'll be a huge help with keeping the ship afloat until Romo gets back. That totally changes the looks that defenses will give us and make Weeden's job a lot easier.

From everything I've read, it won't be a matter of pain management. It's simply a matter of when the bone is healed.

I would not hurry Dez or Romo back

let them heal all the way

other wise you take the chance of them never being as good as they were

No one knows for sure how long he'll be out which is why the timeline keeps changing.

I wouldn't look forward his return until December. Even then I doubt he would be much help. He would be out of football shape and rusty. I doubt he can really contribute this season.

Is there a "I give up" emoticon?

Cowboys should not rush Dez back in 6 weeks, says Kevin Durant.

Team proxies like Spagnola are saying it's not a Jones fracture. The presumption is that since there was a graft used that it must be a Jones fracture or at least that is the reasoning of Rappaport. That is not necessarily the case. The team does lie but I think not in this case particularly with Dez who takes the things people in his circle say about him very seriously. He tweeted not to believe those stories either fwiw.

I'm interested to know if the Jordan shoe company will have a special cleat for Dez's foot. I have read about Under Armour making a special cleat for Julio Jones' foot for safety and comfort.

Did Spags actually say it was NOT a Jones fracture? I thought local media had confirmed that. But I know Garrett avoided the question.

Yeah he did in the Dez Injury Impact titled Talking Cowboys. DMN reports it as 'commonly known as a Jones fracture" and not as an actual diagnosis. It's a fracture of the 5th metatarsal but not necessarily the tip of it which is what would make it a jones fracture. Dez tweeted out after Rappaport and the DMN and said the stories were not true.

was looking at my fantasy team which includes dez. On his description and outlook it had ed werder reporting that he's closer to 6 weeks rather than the 10-12. Anyone here anything?

Doctors say this, Dez says that, teams says so Mediots say different.

Just use your common sense. Bones in average need 6-7 weeks to heal.
The bone he broke is not a uncommon one regarding that specific injury. There is enough experience with it to say how long that injury will last until its fully healed. 8-10 is the expected timeframe

So why should Dez come back after 6 ?
Off course he says it. But who cares ? Dez is always pumped up and rdy to go. But lets face it: his bones do not care about what Dez is twittering. They'll take their time to heal anyway.

Interesting. That does make a difference.

There were multiple reports that it was a Jones fracture. In fact much of the speculation and discussion ASSUMED it was a Jones fracture.
