News: Cowboys OG Ronald Leary getting closer to return

Yes, which would explain why I've been on the right end of so many of their mistakes over the years.

Right and you're so selective about your critique. It's not like you criticize everything then happen to be right about some things.

Here's hoping he's not rushing back before that groin pull is completely healed. We'll see how it goes in N.O. At least, he's got a capable backup behind him. With the problems Free has been having with his foot, it might help if someone shows up to afford him capable relief as well. It doesn't appear Chaz Green will be available this year by the looks of things. Let's hope newly acquired Charles Brown might provide what's needed if he's called upon.

We have never seen Collins play tackle
The staff feels like he is a better guard, at least right now
Will Collins plat tackle in the future? Maybe, but my guess he is the future replacement for Leary at guard

Yes, but sadly we have seen Doug Free play Tackle or should I say attempt to play Tackle.

Rarely does an interior linemen step onto a NFL field and be solid in pass blocking. Even in the run game they have a lot to learn. People here are expecting a player to go from tackle in college ball to starting on a pretty damn good NFL line at G. That's asking a lot.

Clearly he has talent. But it's either the height of arrogance to pretend to know better than career coaches, stupidity and vanity, and/or an agenda to think the average fan actually knows better.

For a top ten draft talent, one can realisticly expect about half a season to get his feet wet and settle into the start of a role as well.

Prediction: Leary is an Eagle or Colt in 2016.

The Cowboys will have to pay Martin and the Beard in the future so they can't pay Leary next year. Smith, Martin, and the Beard are All- Pro, Leary is a sub-par player.

Anytime on the field for Collins only helps him and us. The staff likes Leary more than Collins at the LG spot right now. Sliding him to OT wouldn't hurt much since it places you best 5 OL on the field.

You assume he is a better tackle than free
You know what they say about assumptions
Almost ever scouting report on Collins said he would be a better guard than tackle
I expect we will see in camp next year if he can play tackle but they aren't putting at tackle this year and it appears from day one they never thought of him at tackle
Much like Martin who many wanted to play tackle
The staff wants players to play where they have the best chance of success

It's not a far fetched assumption given Free's ability, or lack thereof to play that spot. If RT is Free's best chance of success he sure isn't showing it on a consistent basis. I wouldn't put success and Free in the same sentence. He was outplayed by Parnell last year and is on the team due to his team friendly contract.

He's not even right about some things he boasts he is...more than a few.

Risen is a fine poster and I've never had a problem with him.

In my experience, his analysis consists of taking a player acquired below the third round who's been forced into a prominent role, and ******** on them. In those types of situation, he's going to be right more often than not because players acquired in lower round usually don't pan out.

One of his favorite whipping boys was Phil Costa, who was little more than a high effort place holder.

Not really, no.

Jeff Heath, Hayden, every TE drafted since Witten, etc. Great QB in the making we have, oops, didn't learn from last time? Glad we didbn't pick up a RB in draft/FA that could compete out outside of a mim. contract (ish) in McFadden. Who on this team contributes past the first 3 rounds(the draft, not lucking into UDFAS, etc.? To be fair McClay has hit on the some of the last last turnups, but this RB/OL situation basically makes this team the 2013v. w/running game (was okay w/letting Murray go, but thought we had a plan in place, instead of....see what we got!)

TR gave us the best chance but JG wanted to try out Costa, etc. for a few years. We must let him learn/rebuild (somehow w/a franchise QB/top 5 TE/Top 5 WR/Top5 Pass rusher in Ware. He had top 10 talen alone right there. You wann argue a better supporting cast?

what planet do you live on that makes you think Leary is sub par?
