NFL, No Respect For The Players That Made The Game

This is NOT a disrespect for past players. The hyperbole is lame.

This is the player disrespecting NFL policy. THAT is why he got fined. If you want to do something like this, make a request to the NFL. If they say no, deal with it. You don't make the rules. If you bend / break them. You WILL get fined.

I disagree. The league could have warned him, and moved from there.
Or just turned a blind eye... no one would have been the wiser.
To focus on this is bs....

but hey, I'm not the one to talk to when it comes to "falling in line"

The league did warn him. He got an NFL Dress Code Policy Handbook. It clearly state he will be fined if he deviates.

I never read that he was warned. I read that he was fined, twice.

And again, we will agree to disagree because we are different. If the league is looking for words that he put on his eye black, and those words are clearly his father's nick names, who played in the league... than I have a problem with the depth in which they will go to fine over what they consider a "violation".

total complete garbage. This is the same thing as that stupid zero tolerance crap which just makes them look even dumber. Any time you claim that your 'rules' prohibit honoring a father then you are wrong.

He has only been fined once. He may be fined a second time after this past weeks game. I don't agree with the policies, but Heyward can't claim any sort of ignorance on this matter. This is not the first time this type of situation as come up. He didn't need a warning. He knew the risks the first time and certainly knew them before this past Sunday's game.

He didn't claim ignorance if you see the espn article that was just released. And yes, its been twice after this weekend...

Guess what.. i still disagree... i think a warning out of courtesy would have been the way, considering that his father gave his body, and was marketed when the league was considered "hard hitting" (but i don't know if they warned him or not.. i haven't read that they did or didn't... i just think this is stupid)

but again... we're all different....

I read the report and it doesn't say he has been fined a second time yet. It speculates that he will be fined again. The league usually doesn't announce fines on Monday, so I don't know where you read he has already been fined. It doesn't matter if you or I agree or disagree with their policies they are their policies and they are well known to fine players for uniform code violations.

It does matter, because obviously you want to continue rationalize something to me that I don't think is rational.

These same types of uniform code violations occurred under previous commissioners as well.

Yep. Peyton Manning was told he would be fined $25K after he asked to wear black cleats to honor Unitas back in 2002. Jake Plummer was told he would be fined if he didn't remove a Pat Tillman decal from his helmet back in 2004.

The NFL never has, and never will, care about the individual statements players want to make. They have their rules and you either follow them or pay the fines that will be coming.

well obviously the family love & honor is more important to him than the fine.

There are so many ways to honor his father that do not include breaking the rules, so I gotta side with the NFL.

I don't think it is a rational rule or enforced rationally, but it is a rule that is enforced and always has been. It would have been out of character for the NFL not to have fined Heyward.
