It seems to me this braggish talk by Dez doesn't accomplish anything worthwhile. It simply comes off as being a refusal to accept the need for a sense of urgency. This team is in trouble. Any puffed up talk is simply unrealistic.

Go back and read your post. You started by saying what Dez should or shouldn't be saying. Not what you wanted for yourself.

Bottom line is you have a defeatist attitude. He doesn't. That's what bothers you. That you can't and don't have that fight. To a player like Dez part of not giving up and being a sissified quitter is not hanging his head as the crowd shouts him and his teamates down with taunts. Rather, he talks back to let them know he's not giving up and he's confident enough to put it out there with the risk of being wrong. Whatever risk that is. At least he's putting that "out there".
Unlike a quitter who walks around with his head down whining about the team. And cries "we don't have a chance" then puts nothing out there. Just quits.

Youthful braggadocio seems to come with the territory. While I am more of a be quiet, put your head down , and work your rear off person myself, I suppose Dez's outspoken optimism is better than defeatism.

Both unbridled optimism and hopeless defeatism seem properly categorized in the extreme to me. Romo and Dez, being players such as they are, may have valid excuses for feeling that way, though. I'm disposed to look at these things more from an objective standpoint, despite my being a diehard fan. To each his own, I suppose. No biggie.

I agree, but there is a fine line. After awhile you start to look like a self promoting idiot and eventually people just ignore you.
