Captain Checkdown is lucky to have a defense and supporting cast to save his bacon!

You would have thought we brought in Joe Montana when Cassel came in. He was going to throw downfield and open up the offense. Weeden had the "pretty throws" that he was told not to make.

If the sorry Texans are a better fit for a QB with Weeden's limitations, than what does it say about our offense?

What a cruel joke this season is. If anyone told me that Brandon Weeden would have to come in and would lead a Texas team to the playoffs I'd have thought it would be us.

Unreal.

And what a snake oil salesman Jerrah is. For 2 years he touted Weeden. After 3 losses he ditches him and says it was all Weeden's fault we lost. I'm glad Weeden is laughing at him along with the whole country.

Another example of the true issue. An owner should never stoop to the level of publicly throwing an ex player under a bus. I mean it was his (collective) mistake, that was already solidified with Weeden's release after 3 games. To get so personal and screwing with a player on that level isnt likely looked to be looked favorably with other players, it opens you up to this and the up side is really none - egg is already on his face.

just a micro-chasm of the overall issues of one-step forward, two-steps back.

This explains why NE does hat it does. And why there are leakes and people being throwm under the bus pretty regularly here

I know right -- his 93 QB rating without having Dez on the field was a crime against quarterbacking.

Numbers don't lie and neither does the 0-3 stat with him at the helm, sooo...

But to be clear, Weeden made a funny. But let's not get carried away with the level of "success" he's had in Houston.

What's it going to be then, eh?

its very transparent that at this point its not the QBs at all that are the issue.

To most people.

But over time, that will erode.

And blend in with Jerry Jones' comments that he did not do a good enough job to get a backup QB.

What great backup is just waiting for him to throw money at this offseason?

Answer. Zero.

The issue is the staff members.

You know. The same ones that endorsed Brad Johnson.

I agree and what does it say about Jones because all he kept telling us was how great Weeden was? Most of us knew he wasn't that great.

He's had great success there in two games. 2-0.

Our system with any QB not named Romo is 1-10.

And the Texans supposedly have a worse team/talent/coach.

Risen could have a 90+ QB rating when he's only throwing the football 15 feet in front of him

If you have a good defense, that kind of approach can win you games with a backup QB.

Weeden has been pretty good at not losing the game this season. He just isn't good enough to win them.

Not making game-breaking mistakes is a pretty worthwhile character for a backup QB, no?

my hope that whatever shifting is made inhouse on the staff that whoever they bring adds malleability to this stale scheme, or they change the scheme or whatever. a philosophical battle will ensue and the right scheme wins out. i can only hope.

The difference is others on the team have stepped up to help him. Nobody did that here. Weeden wasn't the only reason this team lost those games. And I still say, he played good enough to win the Atlanta and saints games.

I am personally pulling for Weeden to win the last regular season game and win at least one playoff game just to underscore the issues with the Cowboy's offensive coaching approach / philosophy -- with the hopes that will force them to take a more critical look at how to make it better.

No offense, but his relief win, plus another would have us bouncing off the walls.

We can't even win a damn game.

None taken and at this point in the season, I totally agree with that.. Imagine if he'd done it when he had the opportunity here. We'd be positively giddy.
