Weeden happy to see Jerry Jones watch playoffs from couch

The Texans haven't clinched a berth yet, but they will with a Bengals win on Monday night, a win next week, or a Colts loss next week. While Weeden prepares to be in the playoffs, another team in Texas (the Cowboys) won't be as fortunate. The former Dallas QB was asked about this on 107.7 The Franchise on Monday.

Here's what he was asked: "Will it be extra satisfying because of what Jerry [Jones] said to see the Cowboys completely just turn into a dumpster fire if you're in the playoffs?"

Weeden's response: "I mean yeah, absolutely. That'd be sweet. We get to play extra football and he'll be watching on his couch."

The host was referring to Jones' comments after the team released Weeden. Appearing on Dallas station 1053 The Fan, Jones essentially said Cassel would have won the games Weeden lost.

Now, Weeden gets the last laugh.

The backup job was handed to Weeden and he didn't deliver here, so it's not like Jerry did him wrong. He found a better fit in Houston, so great for him. We'll see if he keeps up putting up great performances when teams start making him throw downfield all game.

If the sorry Texans are a better fit for a QB with Weeden's limitations, than what does it say about our offense?

What a cruel joke this season is. If anyone told me that Brandon Weeden would have to come in and would lead a Texas team to the playoffs I'd have thought it would be us.

true but it more so highlights the cowboys staff under JGs lack of adjustment to anyone but Romo. i mean this staff doesnt do anything to put players under positions to win. Romo has to do it all himself.

thats the thing... he couldnt play better here. he was hampered by a scheme that is either Romo friendly or too Romo Dependent or JG dependent whatever you want to call it.

weeden, nor cassel, nor moore can do anything with it.

the scheme needs an elite QB who adlibs and improvises and adjusts plays at the LOS. it cant adjust to any other style because its stiff and stale. its not malleable. the QB in this scheme needs years to add some malleability to it. It took Romo awhile as good as he is.

They told us that Cassel was going to take chances and throw down field and then they turned him into Weeden. Might as well have just kept Weeden then.

Garrett essentially backed that up with his comments today that his offensive system works for anyone and he is happy with it.

I know right -- his 93 QB rating without having Dez on the field was a crime against quarterbacking.
