I neither heard nor read Jerry's post-Weeden comments, so I can't respond to them directly, but I can understand Weeden's reaction. The Cowboys told him to play conservatively in an already craptastically vanilla offense, and then fired him because he couldn't throw the ball down field. It's not like he didn't miss his share of wide-open receivers, though, so while I have no problem with him jabbing back at a guy who apparently jabbed him first, I'm not gonna get carried away with Weeden's role in a win over the Tennessee Titians. He can talk whatever trash he wants, but crowing because he "lead" Houston to victory against the worst team in the league, which was also playing with its backup behind center and scored a whopping *6* points, well, I guess I'm a lot harder to impress than he is.

None of that changes the fact that I've been questioning Garrett's outdated offense for years, and that if George Godsey--or Ben McAdoo, or Kyle Shanahan, or etc.--is running the Cowboys offense in 2015, Weeden is still starting in Dallas and we're all talking about whether or not Garrett should rest him next week.

The Texans are winning because their defense is playing at a level ours can only dream of. In the 8 games since getting destroyed by the Dolphins they have 15 takeaways; for the season we have only 11.

True. They were awful the beginning of the season but turned it right around. Their db's fly to the ball.

I think all of them took some tackling lessons too. That part of their game is light years better now.

Weeden got shafted by Dallas. I would be happy too. dude gets 3 chances and although he loses, he wasn't terrible. The oline was a joke, play calling was laughable. Then we trade for a scrub that sucks even worse than him. And Jerry publicly throws jabs at him. Yeah I would be mad too.

It is what it is.. I have to have Jerry's back because he owns my favorite team. But that's about it.

Weeden is what he is. A back up guy who under the perfect circumstances can go out there and do ok.

True the Titans are horrible but he didn't perform down to their level. He made some nice throws and was ok.

That's all they want him to be. Just ok. Don't lose the game for us. Our defense will keep it close and hopefully they can make a few downhill throws that Hopkins can catch.

He may not even see the field again this year. Who knows?

I like Dez alot but this just hasn't been a good year for him. He'll bounce back though.

He will bounce back if Romo bounces back. Clearly his is no leader. When we needed him most he was nowhere. More of a pouting child then anything else. And who can forget him in preseason running onto the field and getting punched in the face and fighting when he wasnt even playing. Many on here talked about how it may come back to haunt us this attitude and immaturity. And some lashed out like we were bad fans. Well it rang true. Many people were exposed this season and I believe Dez was one of them.

Dez is immature, runs poor routes, pouts, and has problems getting open. Romo has been the ONLY guy to make him look good so far. He has done nothing with any other QB throwing to him. You basically have to throw the ball up because he is usually covered.

But..........in his defense, the coaching doesnt do much with him trying to get him the ball or move him around. And no doubt the injuries hampered him some.

Dez is still a top 10 receiver. But there are other more polshed receivers that do more with much less.

I only read he did this or didn't do this..I know he's had a very disappointing year. The whole team has. I think he'll be fine next year.

thats the thing... he couldnt play better here. he was hampered by a scheme that is either Romo friendly or too Romo Dependent or JG dependent whatever you want to call it.

weeden, nor cassel, nor moore can do anything with it.

the scheme needs an elite QB who adlibs and improvises and adjusts plays at the LOS. it cant adjust to any other style because its stiff and stale. its not malleable. the QB in this scheme needs years to add some malleability to it. It took Romo awhile as good as he is.

I don't buy that at all. When he drops back with the ball, it is his decision on where to throw it. The fact is that Moore has thrown more to the wideouts with greater success than Weedon or Cassel even attempted to. This scheme along with any other scheme benefits from a good QB. When Weeden was here, he never took advantage of his opportunity, he would rather take the sure 6 yard completion than the shot down the field. That was his mindset, remember his quote, he was auditioning for 31 teams, that is what he said. He wasn't about to take chances with the ball. Now he is in a spot where he has to throw to the wideouts because Houston has nothing else to throw to, their RB and TE are a joke.

the jury is till out on Moore. I will give him one more week/game to make a decision there. but if his current play is any indication im only a little hopeful but not much. we still havent won more than 1 game with a backup QB this season and even that was still limited offensively.

You could be right that this scheme just needs an elite QB but it also needs other positions working on all cylinders too and thats the problem. You can't rely on that anymore because stuff happens.

It doesn't really highlight anything to me. If he'd played better here, then he could've claimed that he led the Cowboys to the playoffs. Now he gets to hop a ride to the playoffs on a team who plays arguably in a worse division than the NFCE.

Preach!

Im sure he will if everything is going great. But when the chips were down, what did he do? What could he really produce? I wasnt impressed. Its great having front runners on your team. But what we really need are true leaders when the chips are down.

I doubt Weeden knows it, but that's red meat for a large segment of Texan fans...a lot of them hate the cowboys more than they like the Texans. A lot of it is large city vs large city thing, which I find really odd among grown adults. I remember doing that stuff in middle school with our high school football rivals and talking crap about the town 5 miles away

I am personally pulling for Weeden to win the last regular season game and win at least one playoff game just to underscore the issues with the Cowboy's offensive coaching approach / philosophy -- with the hopes that will force them to take a more critical look at how to make it better.

Bingo....but it's already known that our coaching/philosophy sucks and we maintain our future looks bright...........
