People act all crazy like nobody can jump up that far in the draft and how we can get him in the second...only for the draft to creep up and he goes before we have a chance to pick him.

Aaron Donald comes to mind. He went from a possible second round pick for us to a definite first round pick to we will have to trade up to get him to we don't have enough ammo to move up to draft him.

QBs are even worse when it comes to the draft.

No way Christian Ponder was going to be a first rounder.
No Way Brandon Weeden was going to be a first rounder
No way would EJ Manuel was going to go top 20

Anything can happen between now and the draft. Especially if a player has a good senior bowl or combine yet every year we have some in here saying...NO WAY will this guy go this early or this round.

Never say No Way when it comes to people on the rise. He is already rising up the boards and if he has a good senior bowl, combine or private workout his stock could go through the roof.

Some mocks right now have him going as high to the Rams at 11.

Historically, you don't see prospects viewed as Day 2 types rise up in mocks to Day 1 then settle backwards.

As far as I am guessing, he's pretty much out of the Day 2 discussion. If he makes into Round 2, it is not very far.

The other part is that he is a QB and somewhat developmental. Teams that like him will want that developmental year which makes him more likely to go in the late first.

Why would Rams draft QB when they just signed Foles?

I think he will end up being a round 2 guy. People want to try and compare him to Roethlesberger. He's not Ben. Not even close. He should go round 2.

His playstyle isn't like Favre.

He's got the gunslinger style of play. More like a Favre type of QB.

This site? The NFL is ridiculous with QBs.

Nobody ever thought Weeden was a first round choice. Nobody. But yet, there he went.

Never underestimate how much this league is starved for QBs. We just happen to be one of them right now too.

Better to get started now than be one of the desperate in a year or two.

Yea, I am thinking Cleveland takes Goff and flushes Manzel down the toilet........LOL

I think you nailed it about Wentz, if Garrett gets an entire week to coach him, watch him in practice, see how he handles our terminology, sees how he studies and how fast he picks things up in the meetings, and finally sees him under fire in a live action game..............it literally is the most extensive evaluation of a potential franchise QB I can remember there being.

If we are sold on him, then take him at 4 and don't look back...........who cares if Mel Kiper or Chris Berman laugh and say it is taking him too high. One mock has Wentz going #11 to the Rams, so its not like a total pick out of left field here.

This is a golden opportunity here, we should not waste it.

I agree. If he's the guy, take him. The beauty of our position is that we don't have to rush him into battle. Just let him sit and learn the game.

I think a lot of top quarterbacks have been ruined because they had to start immediately. Unless you have elite talent and a strong team surrounding you, starting early isn't advisable.

If we do pick Wentz, he's starting by his third year. You don't draft a quarterback in the top of the draft and sit him for three full years. If Wentz is picked, Romo has two good years left before we hand over the reins.

So Tony has a two-year window to win the Super Bowl with the Dallas Cowboys.

What I'm afraid of is that if they do really like Wentz, they'll try and get cute and trade down a bit and some team will grab Wentz ( along with Goff & Lynch being gone ) and we'll lose our chance to grab our future QB.

I'll be very nervous this upcoming draft is all I know.

Then he might be the best QB for us. Our coaches seem to want to make the QBs play conservative, so we need a QB with natural "gunslinger" tendencies to offset that. Get a QB who is already naturally conservative, and all we'll ever get is a game managing dink & dunker.

Thank you. None of us are getting paid to evaluate players (at least I don't think anyone is).
I watch players and notice certain things about their game. But I don't claim to be a scout.
So what do I really know about a player and his upside? What do any of us really know?

Whoops I meant to say his playstyle is like Favre and not like big Ben.. Messed that up. Sorry.

He's a gunslinger QB.

I don't want a conservative QB on this team. We need a playmaker if we're going to keep the worst coach in football.

Which other Qb will be on the North's roster? Brissett is another prospect that we should be consider as an opportunity to examine closer. This kid has the tools, can they translate better in the NFL then they did on the collegian level.

I predicted elsewhere that Wentz will be a top 15 pick by the time the draft rolls around. I stick by it. Maybe top 10 if he aces his workouts.

Wentz being coached by Wade Wilson.

Can't wait to watch Wentz check down all game long. Whoever is playing running back will get to show a lot in terms of receiving out of the backfield.

I think it's going to be like the Manning, Rivers, Roethlisberger year. Going in that general area.

Wentz at #4 now? Jesus it's ridiculous how quickly guys shoot up boards on this site. No way would I take Wentz at #4. Guy's only started one full season of college football at the QB position (in the FCS, no less), he missed the majority of this season with an injury, he's shown some inconsistent accuracy in the few games that he has played, and now suddenly he's a Top 5 pick. Absurd.

The board picks a name, annually, to get way too hyped over. Wentz is clearly this years name.
