Sorry but anything with Jason Cole's name attached is a turd. He's about the farthest thing from a "reliable reporter. That's not to say that the Cowboys won't re-sign Hardy, but I'll wait until someone with some credibility reports it.

Jason Cole. Pshhh.

Here is what I don't get we are 2 weeks from a Super Bowl being played and someone is writing a report on us not resigning a player. We went 4-12 and this reporter all of a sudden gets a scoop and rights this story. I can't lie and many probably wont agree but I wish folks would go report heavy on other teams their is 31 others to choose from

Did you watch Mario Williams voluntarily shut it down so he could pout his way out of Buffalo this past year? And people complain about Hardy's effort?

That's a valid point.

Two things in Mario's favor... The first being he wasn't or hasn't been a distraction off the field.

The second is he got somewhat of a screw-job by Rex Ryan changing the defense and forcing he and Hughes to become part-time coverage linebackers– not saying that's the best excuse in the world but I think if you put him back in a traditional 4-3 he'd perform just fine.

It is not a scoop.

***BREAKING!!!!*** Cowboys have decided to part ways with pending free agent Morris Claiborne.

See, anybody can do it.

They have not made up their minds yet and even if they did, Cole is not going to be the first to know.

Can't say that I did. If that's the case, my interest level drops down dramatically.

One thing that no one seems to talk about, is signing him COST us a 4th round pick this year (DeMarco Murray comp pick)

This is true, but this is also hindsight. Back when we signed Hardy, the large majority of comments on this site were favorable to the signing, while those that didn't like the signing didn't like it because of his domestic violence charge. Never heard one person complain about losing a comp pick in the exchange. If I'm wrong about that, I'll stand corrected, but that's my recollection of the situation.

All you have to do is go watch his snaps against Doug Free in the Dallas game and see he was just out there going through the motions.

That would make sense then. I was at the Green Bay/Arizona game and after seeing the highlights ((lowlights?), I ended up not watching the game.

That's my only red flag with Williams, honestly. I'm not into selfish players who shut it down when things aren't going their way.
It is not like he does not have an established record of turning it on and off when he chooses to do so.

But he is not close to the terrible awful no good dastardly piece of human filth Hardy is, so there is that, I guess.

It is pretty accurate.

You can also find dozens of people immediately after the Patriots game urging Jones to "pay the man" and "git 'er dun" in regards to his future prospects. So you are kind of wasting your time and energy bothering to even care what the large majority of comments on this site mean from day to day and week to week.

I hope he's gone, and I hope partying is a major reason.....because that would squash Johnny Manziel from the conversation right away.

Enough with the freaks, criminals, and castaways.

Valid point, for sure. I remember listening to NFL Radio one day in between jobs and they had a long diatribe about Williams and the shady stuff he was pulling/saying in the locker room because he was so dissatisfied with his role. Now, to be fair it was the dreaded "unnamed source" so you have to take all of that with a grain of salt but, if true, it's disappointing and certainly worth digging into before committing to any long term deal. Especially considering the monster deal he just signed.

Ne'er a truer word typed.

There was a poster last year (I won't name names) that said the Cowboys wouldn't win 5 games without Dez Bryant. This year he's ready to move on.

Don't get me wrong, everyone has the right to change their mind but, sometimes......................? Wowza!

I hope he's gone simply for the fact that it might prevent us from signing Manziel. The day Manziel is in a Cowboys uniform, expect another 20 years of mediocrity and circus.

I guess I might be in the minority here but I dont think both DTs need to be fixed. I think the 3 tech is in decent shape. I know many are down on Crawford but he played last year injured and was playing alongside a total waste at the 1 tech in Hayden. Get a real 1 tech in here with some skill and I think Crawford will be fine at the other DT spot. And I like Irving's potential as well so I think the 3 tech isn't a huge need unless a stud is just sitting there in the draft.

You are not in the minority. Most of the fans realize that five sacks with a messed up rotator cuff is nothing short of amazing. Crawford is a stud. I think most players would have just called it quits for the season but he fought through it and some fans are calling him weak for his effort. Its amazing. We are fine at the three, but we do need a new one-technique to go next to him. Sapp was best when he had Booger McFarland next to him.

If we sign Mincey back and do little else, we deserve however many losses we can get.

If we sign Mincey back at all, we deserve what we get. People can say 'team guy', 'team leader', or 'right kind of guy' all day long, but the fact is, the guy - a defensive end held out for a bonus from the previous year and followed that up by being the invisible man who had 0 sacks for the entire season.

There's simply no way around that, and all the talking in the world doesn't wipe away that lack of production. They can do whatever they want about Hardy, but there's zero reason to bring Mincey back. I had 0 sacks last year too.
