Spoke to my insider yesterday

Every team has an army of employees and contractors they work with. And those people no doubt chat with others in the organization... And these folks have lives and in turn talk to others outside the organization about what they hear... and there isn't anything here that's "splitting the atom" kind of stuff. All the points are very believable.

I'm not sold on a QB at #4, but if the Cowboys are... That's OK too.

Yes the team can survive with McFadden for another season. To dump him after the season he did have would be kind of silly. What they need to do is have an adequate backup. And there will be FA backs available. To run "cheap" at the RB position in '16 isn't a back-breaker IMO.

No, a dominant defense does not need a run-plugger at one of the DT spots. That's nonsense. What it needs is a better player than Hayden.

agree about the RB.we need some insurance for Dmac but we can use a late Rd pick on a RB.

They could use a late round pick but a back like Alfred Morris is going to be available cheap... a guy who's run for a 1,000 yards. And would do well behind this OL. Not saying the Cowboys would go that way but I wouldn't be surprised.

The challenge with a late-round RB is of course he's a rookie and if McFadden was hurt, you'd need a guy who could pick up NFL blitz packages.

Now they could roll with a late-rounder RB as the #3 (replacing Dunbar) but not as the #2.

Come '17 they'll draft a back early and will let him split carries with a vet be it McFadden or whomever.

I saw a couple of DT's I liked today that I think will be there in the 2nd. Mayock was trying to make out like every DT on the field today was going to be drafted in the first but that's just a bit unrealistic, if you ask me. I liked Spence(r?), Reed, and a couple of others.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Cowboys took a DT AFTER round 1.

Elliott, Henry, Collins, Booker, Drake, Dixon isn't bad

Yeah... The difference is all the players I named will likely have first/second round grades. Those were the players off the top of my head.

let me preface this by saying I'm only sharing this with the board because there are certain members who requested I pass this along. Feel free to believe what I'm telling you, ridicule what I tell you, doubt the legitimacy of what I'm telling you or anything else. Doesn't matter to me as I don't gain squat for this.

The office I work at has a contractor who works on a certain project for our company but is also a member of the Cowboys staff.

So I Spoke to my guy. Asked him why I hadn't seen him in so long and he said his project for our company is about done.
He'll be around every once in awhile to check things out but not nearly as much as before. So that sucks.

Anyway I asked him about the draft, and like before he said he can't go into too much detail, but said we LOVE Wentz. Said we believe he's the real deal and that we've been watching him for some time hoping he wouldn't blow up the way he has. Said he didn't mind sharing this info because it's already out in the media.

Said Jerry really wants Tony to win but understands he's only 1 hit away from us being completely stuck w no QB. So the possibility of us going QB w the first pick is VERY real.

I asked if we'd trade back and he said that's possible if we don't get Wentz. I personally prefer to trade back and asked him what he thought, and he said "it don't matter what I think I'm telling you what THEY want" lol. And said they want Wentz, period. He also said the scouts get paid to know what they're talking about and that they say Wentz can make the throws has the size and ability they want. Said the scouts really like him a lot and he does too. More than Goff and more than Lynch.

I Asked about Hardy and he said it's complicated because Rod knows he's an exceptional talent but his attitude just sucks. He's been telling me this all year. Said reports about him being out of shape aren't really true, he was in shape, just late all of the time and just "did his own thing".

Asked about RB and he says they believe in DMC and expect him to be the guy for another year and draft RB next year.

Asked about 1 tech and he said Hayden needs to be coming off the bench but they aren't focused on a 1 tech specifically. Said they want big athletes that can move. I argued that we should get a huge 1 tech that can get some push and he said "again they want big athletes, period"
Says they are set in their ways and that's it.

Overall he was kinda cranky and I suspect it was because he wanted to go to the senior bowl but they didn't bring him. I wanted to talk to him more but he was on his way to "other projects" so he had to run. Wish I could've got more questions in, but I wanted to pass this along.

I know the Wentz fanatics on the board will probably appreciate this.

Good post thanks for sharing!

they dont like Goff? this guy look really good and he is accurate and make all the throws and he did it in the pac -12.

To me it comes down to do the Browns want a freak talent in Wentz or do they want the standard type of QB that is available almost every year.

That jives completely with what has been shared by Broaddus and others.
They've struggled to hide their infatuation with Wentz.
Garrett today when asked about him gave the best All my quarterbacks are awesome speech... but the smile he had when asked about Wentz is hard to hide.

My question to your guy if you get the chance again would be... would they take any QB other than Wentz at 4?
It seems they like him more than Goff (I don't but not my call) and not sure how thye feel about other players.

The 1T answer is absolutely right.
Marinelli doesn't want anyone that isn't athletic enough to chase sideline to sideline. His hustle hard philosophy he will die with.
He's not drafting or playing a massive monster that takes plays off.

The RB thing is pretty much as you'd expect. It matches common sense and need. You get better where you can but it's not a high priority in the team's eyes.

Again the insiders we have access to on local radio tell us this as well.

They change fornt office people and coaches and quarterbacks so iften who can tell.

Someone wanted dynamic when they added Johnny. Just have zero idea if that same guy is in charge now or not.

Goff and Wentz are both pretty Ward Cleever clean cut so that's gotta be a big selling point for them after the Money Manizel sideshow.
I love that kid's talent (JMM) but even I am getting sick of him.

I still have Goff ahead of Wentz,he is very accurate and will make some throws which reminds you of Romo.

And that's fine.. I just know Wentz has a much higher ceiling and I want a guy that has superstar playmaking ability which I think he has and it just needs to be coached up.
