Spoke to my insider yesterday

That jives completely with what has been shared by Broaddus and others.
They've struggled to hide their infatuation with Wentz.
Garrett today when asked about him gave the best All my quarterbacks are awesome speech... but the smile he had when asked about Wentz is hard to hide.

My question to your guy if you get the chance again would be... would they take any QB other than Wentz at 4?
It seems they like him more than Goff (I don't but not my call) and not sure how thye feel about other players.

The 1T answer is absolutely right.
Marinelli doesn't want anyone that isn't athletic enough to chase sideline to sideline. His hustle hard philosophy he will die with.
He's not drafting or playing a massive monster that takes plays off.

The RB thing is pretty much as you'd expect. It matches common sense and need. You get better where you can but it's not a high priority in the team's eyes.

Again the insiders we have access to on local radio tell us this as well.

That's what I'm wondering as well..

Personally I wouldnt if I were them.

And that's fine.. I just know Wentz has a much higher ceiling and I want a guy that has superstar playmaking ability which I think he has and it just needs to be coached up.

How can you judge their ceilings?

Physical talent.

How does a guy like Byron Jones go in the first round? Cause he can play football and jump out the gym.

Wentz is mobile in and out of the pocket and has a rifle arm that makes the hardest throws look easy.

This team is definitely placing a greater emphasis on physical metrics. The question is how much that matters in separating a good QB from a great one.

What would you have done if you had that valuable 25 seconds back?

More like at least a minute. I'm a slow reader. I would have pushed the play button on my DVD player and watched a movie and forgotten this thread even existed for a couple of hours.

To me it comes down to do the Browns want a freak talent in Wentz or do they want the standard type of QB that is available almost every year.
Just fall in love with Goff. That's all I want them to do.

I still have Goff ahead of Wentz,he is very accurate and will make some throws which reminds you of Romo.

Me too and it is his accuracy but also his pre-reads I like. He knows what defense is coming more often than not.

Man that was a tenuous decision tree over that movei

How do you know Wentz has a higher ceiling?

Wentz is 2 years older so it would be logical to conclude if the scouts have them close (who knows yet how they see it), that Goff has the higher ceiling.

Wentz is the better athlete on paper which is what he means.
All that said, tons of athletes are superior to every starting NFL QB and one of them are better QBs.
That position is a weird mix of things but arm accuracy and reading defenses top the list. Goff to me is well ahead of anyone in the last few classes in those 2 areas.

Neither of these guys has the Jeff George cannonb ut as Weeden taught us so well, arm strength is relative to the ability to actually get a throw off.

Thanks for posting! Doesn't Hue Jackson have a history with Goff? Seems to me that the Browns would take Goff before Wentz?

Thanks a lot for that.

The D Mac quote kind of scares me big time. I think he was fortunate to make it through the season healthy. He had a good year but I hope we look at a RB this in the draft too.

I was wrong about Hardy and fully admit it. I thought he would really help us down the stretch but he is who he is. I'm fine if we keep him for the right price and fine if we let him go.

If Wentz truly is the guy we're going to have to deal with the Browns. There's no way he's getting but them and I would rather add picks than give picks up.

Who knows - will be a very interesting off season and fun to speculate.

I think we were lucky as hell to get through the year with him unscathed. Going for a 2nd full year is really pushing it IMO. If an RB is BPA in one of those earlier rounds I think you take him and don't think twice about it.

one of the two will be available, as well as Lynch.... take one of them and don't look back.

That offensive staff loves Lance Dunbar.
I expect he is re-signed and Turbin is back.
I do not think it likely they look RB early.
This one is rather an open book quiz.
They liked DMC more than anyone else last year, signed him and ignored the RB in the draft.
After he proved them right I don't think they'll reverse course unless the draft board forces their hand.

You can't get better everywhere so you gotta de-value a few spots.
For better or for WROSE on this team it is RB/1T/Safety ... I shed tears over last one.

The sticking with Dmac scares the crap out of me! I hope they are really not that stupid. 2 straight years with no rookie backs?
