Yep.. And the big school and all of the production he had there didn't translate to the NFL.

Yes, you just pointed out that players can turn out to be busts. Congratulations.

The point is, his college production showed he was worthy of a top 5 pick. It would not be surprising for these QB prospects to drop out of top 5 consideration after the combine. Then what? What happens if the only QB in the draft that is projected top 5 is taken before our pick, is everyone going to whine?

That's exactly what is going to happen. You guys don't have a pet cat player, you have a position you are demanding being chose in the top 5. This is not a strong QB class and there will be some great prospects to grab at other positions at 4.

sign rg3, he cant be worse than a rookie qb. At least rg has played and sat and watched games. Use the 4 pick on lb or secondary help, or trade down a few spots and collect picks. Grab a QB next year. Yes Jerry I would like some more kool-aid:flagwave:

No.. I do.. I like Wentz.. He is a freak talent and if you can't coach that into something then you don't belong in the NFL.

I don't want any of these other QBs. I'll pass on the rest.

There for sure a lot worst cases than that. But either way dallas is going to have to bit the bullet sooner or later and get a qb. I just don't have any faith in the scouting department or the player development by this organization. It will be like after aikman all over again.

Only take a QB at four if the staff is all sold that he is a franchise QB. Don't take one just to take one.

THIS staff??? This staff has no clue how to groom franchise QBs, forget recognizing one.

Some of these points are silly.

For example, New England has never planned for a Brady replacement at the top because......................... THEY NEVER PICK AT THE TOP OF THE DRAFT.\

You take the BPA at 4. If the Cowboys think Goff or Wentz is the 4th best player or highest player on their board at 4, you take him. If the 4th best player on the board is Jack and he's there, then you take him. Or you survey your board and see some players you love still there and think you can trade back to get even more value at 4.

But the dumbest logic IMO would be to love one of the QBs at 4 but pass on him under some flawed logic that you shouldn't take a QB at 4 to sit him for 2 or 3 years.

You take the best player at that spot. If it's a QB, then you take the damn QB. Don't overthink this.

I approve of this message--BPA @ 4, QB or otherwise.

I am shocked by the fans that hopes Romo can stay healthy. They must have lived the post Aikman years. Our fanbase is as short sighted as the FO. Congrats.

That's what will happen after romo that's why most hope romo stays healthy. Dallas will be terrible for many years post romo.

all the more reason to take a QB with most talent, even Garret and Wade wilson(I have no idea what he actually does, the worst coach we have on staff)can screw that up.

I don't pretend to know much, but I have seen games of all three, and what I saw didn't remind me of the big time QBs we are used to seeing in the top 3-4 picks of the draft. These guys are not top 5 talent.

And to find out we've had a "pro quality" scout right here in the forum all this time and never knew it! It's an honor to have someone with that ability assess talent for us...

How do you know exactly? They have never attempted to groom a "franchise QB". Signing a 30 year old bust and drafting a QB in the fourth round is not an attempt.

The team has had a franchise QB for the past decade so we haven't even had to try.

There's only been 2 QBs in the past 10 years coming out of college at the QB position that have had "freak talent" - Wentz is not one of them.

Unless we draft his replacement and train him for a year or two

There still will be a ton of bad seasons. Romo makes this crappy offense schemo work. They won't change the offense and dallas is terrible at development of players and scouting players.

I agree they probably should get a qb. They're not going to win the sb anytime soon so it doesn't hurt anything to take a chance.

Goff--Wentz--Lynch

Last year all three would have been drafted behind Winston and Marietta. Any of these guys could develop into a quality starting QB in 2-3 years. Any could be career backups. Time for the hype to end.

Romo is not old. According to reports and himself, his back and core are stronger than ever. A collar bone is a collar bone; I've never heard of a career ending due to a collar bone. Tony Romo's demise has been greatly exaggerated.

No one drafts a QB in the top five picks to sit behind a franchise QB for 2-3 years or longer. Even NE has planned twice to prepare for Brady's retirement, but never at the top. All this talk is just foolishness. Draft a super blue-chip defender at #4 or trade down for multiple picks and turn those into DL, LB, DB, and pick up a developmental QB, RB, and WR in middle rounds.

It's too early to pass on impact players who can help a legitimate playoff team with Romo and Dez healthy to take a talented, but developmental QB and sit him on the bench. Sorry, no way I'm buying that move. I hope the hype for all three QBs goes through the roof so that Dallas gets some great trade offers to think about vs a blue-chip defender.

I like your write up. I'm neutral to it. I don't have a problem going QB with the pick and I don't have a problem trading down. However, the only thing that bothers me is when I read the words "blue chip defender." That didn't work out so well, trading up for Claiborne. Even if we didn't trade up and somehow got Claiborne, I'm leery of blue chip anything.
