Just say NO to QB at #4

Goff--Wentz--Lynch

Last year all three would have been drafted behind Winston and Marietta. Any of these guys could develop into a quality starting QB in 2-3 years. Any could be career backups. Time for the hype to end.

Romo is not old. According to reports and himself, his back and core are stronger than ever. A collar bone is a collar bone; I've never heard of a career ending due to a collar bone. Tony Romo's demise has been greatly exaggerated.

No one drafts a QB in the top five picks to sit behind a franchise QB for 2-3 years or longer. Even NE has planned twice to prepare for Brady's retirement, but never at the top. All this talk is just foolishness. Draft a super blue-chip defender at #4 or trade down for multiple picks and turn those into DL, LB, DB, and pick up a developmental QB, RB, and WR in middle rounds.

It's too early to pass on impact players who can help a legitimate playoff team with Romo and Dez healthy to take a talented, but developmental QB and sit him on the bench. Sorry, no way I'm buying that move. I hope the hype for all three QBs goes through the roof so that Dallas gets some great trade offers to think about vs a blue-chip defender.

That would be ideal however at this stage of the game and the twilight of one's life, Jerry surely has figured out it's time to hedge some bets...

Great post, but Big Ben was drafted to sit behind Mattox, not to play his rookie year. Mattox went down early in the year, and his back up Charlie Batch took over but suffered an injury in his first start. Ben came in and never relinquished his job. The plan was to have Ben he the third stringer his rookie year.

Sounds like it was proven to be a really stupid idea, fortunately for them.

We were qb/healthy Dez and a legit defense away. All 3 can be had this off-season.

my point is that QB is the most important need we have. With a healthy Romo this defense would have done much better than they did. Teams play offense much different playing from behind, and Romo would have possibly had many leads. The defense kept us in most games. But Romo got injured, he will be a year older and regardless what Jerry says, Romo won't be playing 4-5 years. So QB is really the most important need this year. I don't expect to be drafting in the top 5 anytime soon, if we do it's because Romo got injured early in the season.

So how are we a long way ? A year ago we were a Murray fumble from a championship game. Bs

If you average last years unexpected success and this years unexpected flop this team is right where it has been for the past 20 years, 8-8, likely, a much more accurate representation of what this team is.

Losing every single game Romo does not play is an indictment on how this organization is run from the front office to the coaching staff. If talent a single position has become that essential to the cowboys success then it should be the sole focus going forward.

Wentz isnt winning any games for us in 2016 if Romo is hurt. We need a real defense period.

Worst case we get a solid backup for 4-5 years like Osweiler.

Best case we have a replacement for Romo in 2 years.

If we drafted Bosa would he really impact more than 1 win? A QB is that important.
Plus we could always re-sign Hardy.

Aikman only won 1 game his first year.

How do you know exactly? They have never attempted to groom a "franchise QB". Signing a 30 year old bust and drafting a QB in the fourth round is not an attempt.

The team has had a franchise QB for the past decade so we haven't even had to try.

That 30 year old bust had Jerry, Garrett and Linehan were singing praises about prior to be demoted for not winning games then cut, finally ending up in Houston and helping them into the playoffs???

That bust who was also taken in first round?? Or are referring to the next 30 year old bust that Jerry was drooling over and lamented not taking him with his first round pick and who is soon to be available??

There are busts at QB in every draft and if there is one thing I am absolutely sure about, Jerry and Garrett will pick that bust. Or Linehan and Wilson will destroy them via apathy or incompetence.

Well, while you've got that crystal ball warmed up, please tell us which defensive player is going to turn the defense around.

PlayerS. Myles Jack at 4 along with other picks/FA=super bowl contender. My opinion

I am shocked by the fans that hopes Romo can stay healthy. They must have lived the post Aikman years. Our fanbase is as short sighted as the FO. Congrats.

You don't know anything different.

You're right, they can't afford not to for sure. Cleveland may see Wentz as "their big guy." Big body kid to go along with the other bigs in their division, Big Ben and Flacco. They may have the mentality of "Wentz will be our Big Ben."

What is scary to me is if it does look like we want to go for a QB, Cleveland takes Wentz, San Diego takes Goff (California kid to sell to the fan base for the future) and then we're left stuck. Then it forces Dallas to trade down into the scenario laid out by the original poster. It wouldn't be awful or the end of the world but I'm sure many would be left in a sour mood about it.

Not me.

QB is such a crapshoot.. Romo UDFA, Brady drafted in the 6th.... You just never know

That said I'd rather draft the best DE or S in the entire draft at 4, but won't be upset if they go QB
