Spoke to my insider yesterday

Just something to think about. Last year they looked at Murray's age, injuries, history and decided they were only going to pay so much for a back of his age, past injuries plus his number of carries.

Now Dmac is much much more cheaper but at the same time they need to look at those same things and if they look they will see that last year was an anomaly for him in production and injury.

Frankly after what we went through last season with back after back being brought it it would be pure lunacy to go into the season with Dmac, Dunbar and a JAG.

Well said.

We're picking at the top in every round. There will be no excuse to get a capable RB to team up with DMac in the 3rd or 4th round.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Cowboys sign someone like Ronnie Hillman, Alfred Morris, James Starks, Chris Johnson or even Matt Forte... and not draft any RB.

The team has far bigger needs at CB, Safety and DT that won't be solved cheaply through free agency.

If that OP is true, you seriously outed this guy's identity with that much detail of his role with the Cowboys.

I suspect he'll never tell you anything again ever.

let me preface this by saying I'm only sharing this with the board because there are certain members who requested I pass this along. Feel free to believe what I'm telling you, ridicule what I tell you, doubt the legitimacy of what I'm telling you or anything else. Doesn't matter to me as I don't gain squat for this.

The office I work at has a contractor who works on a certain project for our company but is also a member of the Cowboys staff.

So I Spoke to my guy. Asked him why I hadn't seen him in so long and he said his project for our company is about done.
He'll be around every once in awhile to check things out but not nearly as much as before. So that sucks.

Anyway I asked him about the draft, and like before he said he can't go into too much detail, but said we LOVE Wentz. Said we believe he's the real deal and that we've been watching him for some time hoping he wouldn't blow up the way he has. Said he didn't mind sharing this info because it's already out in the media.

Said Jerry really wants Tony to win but understands he's only 1 hit away from us being completely stuck w no QB. So the possibility of us going QB w the first pick is VERY real.

I asked if we'd trade back and he said that's possible if we don't get Wentz. I personally prefer to trade back and asked him what he thought, and he said "it don't matter what I think I'm telling you what THEY want" lol. And said they want Wentz, period. He also said the scouts get paid to know what they're talking about and that they say Wentz can make the throws has the size and ability they want. Said the scouts really like him a lot and he does too. More than Goff and more than Lynch.

I Asked about Hardy and he said it's complicated because Rod knows he's an exceptional talent but his attitude just sucks. He's been telling me this all year. Said reports about him being out of shape aren't really true, he was in shape, just late all of the time and just "did his own thing".

Asked about RB and he says they believe in DMC and expect him to be the guy for another year and draft RB next year.

Asked about 1 tech and he said Hayden needs to be coming off the bench but they aren't focused on a 1 tech specifically. Said they want big athletes that can move. I argued that we should get a huge 1 tech that can get some push and he said "again they want big athletes, period"
Says they are set in their ways and that's it.

Overall he was kinda cranky and I suspect it was because he wanted to go to the senior bowl but they didn't bring him. I wanted to talk to him more but he was on his way to "other projects" so he had to run. Wish I could've got more questions in, but I wanted to pass this along.

I know the Wentz fanatics on the board will probably appreciate this.

The Hardy stuff is true. I know someone close to the situation.

He's a beast, but he checked out when we started losing. It is about 90% likely that he will not return.

The Easter Bunny is very forgiving.

I'm a Dmac supporter and I'll be disappointed if we don't draft a rb at some point this year. Heck, Johnathan Williams will probably be there in the 4th or 5th and he will definitely add life to any backfield. And if he isn't good enough, go ahead another guy next year. My favorite is still Chubb, Emmitt 2.0.

Yes, those sources are a fickle bunch.

You gotta be careful what you "share" otherwise, they just abandon you.

One day you are drinking coffee with them as they change the air filter, the next day, well, you done goofed and posted what they said on a message board and you are doomed to a life of sourceless damnation.

I REALLLY struggle to understand the logic that applies here but apparently I am in the vast minority....

DMC was 4th in rushing last year. Murray 1st the year before.
DeMarco was a 3rd round pick. DMC was a cheap vet option.
Why would anyone want us to go all Felix Jones round 1 at RB?

This is the one area we are actually doing better than anyone in football with performance versus spend.

Why fans have an issue here really and truly boggles my mind.

Yeah, he had good stats, but that didn't translate to making much of an impact in games. He didn't take over games or grind the tough yards out that would have took time off the clock. There are many RBs that can do that, but I guess those stats are what is important .

If they don't draft an RB or find a top notch replacement, it will be yet another season we miss the playoffs. We take the strength of our ONE decent year, which was having a run first offense and then we try to go bargain budget on the position?

Keep an eye on Dixon from Louisiana Tech and Collins from Arkansas in the draft.

Also keep an eye on Darian Thompson, S, Boise.

So if Cleveland takes Wentz, then that leaves us Goff. Not a bad trade off. I'll take either one.

It'll be the Roethlisberger / Rivers debate that some Steelers fans still talk about. Pittsburgh FO supposedly wanted Rivers.

If they truly want him, then I wouldn't be against moving up one or two spots to take him if necessary (if the cost to move up isn't nuts).

why would they move up? no way wentz goes before #4 pick. Too many ready to grab Goff and Lynch first.

How is Wentz any different from Brandon Weedon who played at Oklahoma State before being drafted by the Browns? I remember Weedon tearing it up against Big 12 teams. The QB from USC had a better showing imo than Wentz did during the Senior Bowl. They both faced great defensive players from the South.

The only true insider is the liquor store guy. Until I here from him I don't believe in other insiders.

Too hard to say right now what the order will be. I suspect we'll hear a lot of conflicting reports over the next 3 months.

Way to make yourself seem to have difficulty reading. It wasn't a wall of text; perhaps a comic or coloring book will appeal more to you.
Is this you suggesting this or some "insider" that you know through a friend of yours that works for some other guy whose uncle once shared his Uber with a person that knew a guy who told him a story about his grandfather's little nephew having met somebody at a bar who suggested this to him?

this is my favorite time of year. Did he mentioned he worked previously at liquor store?
