Well, I would personally believe players like Bryant who come out - in the light - and say they wanted him back or Sean Lee saying there weren't locker room issues rather than some shock jocks claiming someone hiding in the shadows says differently.

Again, they could be getting this info from the one source that's said anything remotely critical. The self-serving Mr 0 sacks. And I believe that politicking malcontent about as far as I can throw him.

I think the Cowboys are negotiating in public. The price has already been driven down based on last year and this year, and now the Cowboys are putting it out there that they don't necessarily want him back.

They're doing this because they'll let him test the market, and when the market is pretty baron, that is when they will offer him something more manageable.

They don't really have many options at this point to improve the defense through free agency. They're even talking about re-signing Claiborne (context has to be if the price is right) and they also want to keep McClain.

Hardy is a much larger hole to fill than either, especially since Gregory is suspended for 4 games and is entirely unreliable. I know not everyone is on board with Mario Williams, but if he becomes available, I think the calculus changes, but outside of that I think Hardy remains most likely are best bet to produce a pass rush this year, especially at cost.

I'm with you on this. And if Mario does come available I wouldn'tmind having he and Hardy. Resign the English Crawford in FA, and add another in draft and now we're talking. Mario, Dlaw, Hardy, Gregory, McClain, both Crawfords, and the stud that hasn't even touched the service yet Irving! Sign me up!
 
I'm not convinced either. The team knows that it can't rely on Gregory and putting a rookie out there at DE is not a good move.

A talented vet DE will be needed.
 
I think the GM might want him back, but he is on an island.
 
JJ been playing smoke screen. We can try to bring him back for half the price.

If the price was right and he would get his head right I could see that happening
He needs to get serious about football because his chances to make real money are going down the drain if he doesn't get serious

If he was truly not following the rules and that was actually causing a stink with the other players. I don't care how little he will play for, he will not play in a Dallas uniform next season. So, the real question is. How much of that is truly based in fact?

The best chance to get Hardy for a bargain was weeks ago. I think he values loyalty and comfort more than top dollar. He is a bit of a strange bird.

Since the season ended it has been all negative coming from DAL. He might as well test FA now. Teams like JAX have 70m in salary cap money to spend and someone may take a shot.
 
They're giving him the McClain treatment: Let him shop around, see there aren't any great deal then try and sign him cheap.
