Could Wentz be there at #4? Kaep to Browns Talk

Cleveland swaps picks with SF maybe and gets Kap?

If so, maybe SF wants 1st dibs on the QB's in this draft? California kid in SF maybe?

Wentz may be there regardless?

I don't think we want a QB at #4 anyways but another team may want to move up and then we move down and maybe draft a Hargreaves?

Depending on if/how far we would trade down, then maybe Ezekiel Elliott?

My thought is the Browns are exhausted with drafting QB's at the top of round 1 who never amount to anything; they've had awful luck for a long time.
Now, they've lost a ton of guys to free agency with everyone jumping ship at the first opportunity.

I think they bring in a veteran QB and trade that #2 (come get your favorite QB) to some team in this QB starved league, and move down (possibly more than once) to draft as many players in the first 3 rounds as they can get.

They have been trying to turn that franchise around by drafting franchise QB hopeful over and over and over. Now, it's time to build the team on both sides of the ball, a team that can function and win with an average veteran QB; then look for another franchise QB to take over a strong team.

I would agree with most of this. I think Hue Jackson knows that he can't wait as he may only have a lifespan of two years if the Browns are losing 12 games a year. Jimmy Haslam has no patience.

Ok, to those suggesting it's going to be a swap of 1st Rd picks for Kap, the difference between 2 and 7 on the points chart is 1100 points, or the equivalent of the 14th pick in the draft. Does anyone think he is worth anywhere close to that? That deal makes very little sense for the Browns. A swap of 2nds and another later pick makes sense. Swapping 1sts would be theft.

Honestly I see us swapping with the Browns if they make that trade. Smart move on there part. They will recoup whatever day 2 pick it cost to get Kaep and probably would get the same player they would have taken at 2.

I still have the belief that we are absolutely in love with Wentz

I could see it, though Broaddus was saying earlier today he thought we might have Goff above Wentz. I just hope we aren't focused on the trees when there's a forest to worry about with the pick.

In this draft I'm not sure how accurate the point charts are. If the Browns aren't taking a qb the value of player at 2 vs 7 is pretty minimal I would think. A swap of firsts makes a lot of sense for both teams in my mind.

I dont think there is a clear cut awnser as far as QB with Goff and Wentz, other then who we may personally prefer.

That 2 spot becomes interesting if they pull the trade off. The Cowboys, 49ers and Eagles all could be looking to trade up for a QB. SD probably hates this right now

I hope so. I like Goff slightly more than Wentz because there has been talk that his understanding of reading defenses and understanding the QB position is superior to Wentz.

Writers throw everything off the wall so I have a hard time believing any of them when they say that we like one prospect over another and then use out words like 'maybe', 'potentially', etc.

One thing's for sure: if we did pick Goff over Wentz or vice versa, it was because of our interaction and learnings from the Senior Bowl. I wish we could coach that every year (but not at the expense of sucking).

Rule #1 of CZ - never believe a single word that comes out of Jerry's mouth.

Actually, the Cowboys and Jerry and Stephen are usually pretty easy to read in the off-season and draft. I don't recall any smoke screens or lies. If I remember correctly these past years, the Cowboys often stick to drafting players that they interview at Valley Ranch. Claiborne is the exception, I think.

Jerry has said the Cowboys would not be really active in FA and it seems like he strongly hinted that they won't be drafting a QB at #4. I think you can take both of those to the bank. And watch who they schedule interviews with concerning the draft.

Unfortunately, when it comes to the draft, more often than not it's "believe every word that comes out of Jerry's mouth." He's never shown any propensity for smokescreens or misdirection.

The only satisfaction I would get from the Cowboys denying Carson at 4 is knowing where Jerry's going in the next life.

I'll send him a truck full of marshmallows.

So if Jerry is not blowing smoke and have no intention of taking a QB at #4, than Wentz and Goff will not be visitors to the ranch. If they are then.......who knows.
