Cowboys workout FSU LB Terrance Smith

PLAYER OVERVIEW
A three-year starter, Smith started at the "MIKE" in 2013 before replacing Telvin Smith as the Seminoles' starting "WILL" linebacker in 2014. He finished third on the team in tackles (87) last season, adding 4.5 tackles for loss and two interceptions, including a pivotal 94-yard pick-off return for a touchdown against Florida.

His senior season didn't go quite as planned, mostly because of a nagging ankle issue, but Smith did finish fourth on the team with 66 tackles despite missing four games. He had 4.5 tackles for loss, an interception, a quarterback hit and one forced fumble as well.

STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES
STRENGTHS: Rangy athlete with terrific speed and footwork to quickly redirect and burst north, south, east or west. Plays with above average speed for the position to explode through holes at the line of scrimmage and meet the ballcarrier before he can escape the backfield. His acceleration allows him to stick with running backs and tight ends in coverage.

WEAKNESSES: Lacks ideal power and growth potential. Plays with an aggressive, attacking mentality that will cause false steps and inaccurate angles at times. Tends to be too hands-on downfield.

IN OUR VIEW: Smith has next-level potential and with development in some areas, he should at worst be a key special teams performer in the NFL. His aggressive mentality will serve him well.

Might be a touch high for him. That would put him in the top 150 in this draft. For comparison, NFL Draft Scout has him #271.

I think the latest will be round 5. We'll see. He'll be a good will for a handful of years imo

Cowboys have a late compensatory 4th and they've drafted LBs there the last two years.

Has the team planned any visits with anyone projected to go in the first two days? I keep seeing visits planned with roster fodder and it's looking like another Cowboys outsmarting themselves draft. Obviously this is very premature and overreaction, but it's just an observation.

Still lots of time to go in the process, so not really that concerned.
