I'm confused. In addition to his acl and mcl, he also tore his patellar. Why did the cowboys give this guy nearly 2 mill this year when is pretty unlikely to play? Can anybody can confirm that he only counts against our cap if he is actually on the active roster or something?

Only 100k was guaranteed. The rest is in per game bonuses and a small base salary.

He might not make it back or he might need the PUP list. It was a very low risk signing and should not stop them from drafting a RB at all.

And probably cheaper than an injury settlement would have been

Why would a player without a contract get an injury settlement? That's why they get guaranteed money. It's not like the Cowboys cut him, his contract was up.

Wasn't this on a kickoff return when there were already guys at the 10-yard line?

He's another one of those guys that just doesn't exist to me, can't depend on him to stay healthy.

70% of repairs of active duty personnel were either excellent or good at two years. I have no data for professional athletes but they tend to do better as they get better care. I'd suspect the rates of success are similar at least.

I see no reason not to try to keep the guy as my educated guess is he will do well with his surgery.
