Music Icon Prince Dead at 57

I grew up loving his music. "when doves cry" was one of my all-favorite songs from him. may he rest in peace.

Rumors all over the internet now that this was AIDS related.

With the breakthroughs in treatment, and how long people are living with the disease, I wouldn't believe this unless confirmed. Given his dress and demeanor, people are gonna assume this, but I wouldn't give it two thoughts.

Big fan of Purple Rain...both the album & the movie. My significant other grew up in Minnesota. While visiting her family...I got to see the club where they filmed some of the movie. RIP Prince.

He apparently stopped taking his medication because of his religious beliefs. He was a devout 7th Day Adventist, I believe.

And he wasn't gay. He dated tons of hot famous girls.

I know he wasn't gay, I could easily see people thinking he was and to some people, when someone gay dies, it's because of Aids. Again, not ruling it out, just I wouldn't believe it unless confirmed.

Devout Jehovah's Witness... he was also known to go door-to-door and proselytize at times. How would you like to open up your door to Prince handing out Watch Tower material... lol

Sorry to hear of this...

Gotta say though I was never a fan of his songs... there were probably 50 other 80's groups/singers I'd rather hear.

57 is way too young to pass.

I hate to admit it, but I felt like a part of me died when hearing this news at work today. I loved the song "Controversy" when it came out but didn't know the artist. "1999" came out with videos, and I thought the guy seemed weird. I was a metal head. My friends were metal heads. Eventually we all ended up listening to the album regularly when we got together. It was just an odd mix of music, and the talent was through the roof(I played guitar then, and loved what I was hearing). "Purple Rain" came out, and is one of the most exceptional complete albums ever made. My mind was completely blown. Truly a heart breaking day.
