If you want Ramsey, prepare to be disappointed

In today's presser, Garrett was overly effusive in his praise for Ramsey, calling him a "great player" who "jumps off of the tape" and "who was an impact player at the highest level" and "was highly endorsed by everybody at Florida State." These are the words of someone who knows the player will not be available because San Diego will take him or is baiting a team to trade up to 3 to jump the Cowboys. Garrett simply does not talk this much without it being intentional. We all know that from his "say nothing" press conferences. This one speaks volumes...

Hmmmm.....but the description fits. Every "expert", players/coaches/mediot, rave about his Ramsey's physical talent, work ethic and demeanor. I think it would be more suspicious if Garrett attempted to downplay Ramsey.

I am on record for wanting Bosa at 4 and DT/CB in 2nd and 3rd. This D needs to be reshaped to respectability.

Are they willing to pay a CB top money again after Carr? They could have done it with Norman and didn't/couldn't. When Ramsey's hits his option year, it will cost around $12mm. His next contract (assuming he's not a FS) will likely be in the $16mm per year range average. Outside of QBs, pass rushers, and some rush DTs, there are very few players I'd say have a $16mm impact.

By comparison, Elliott's option would be in the $7mm range and maybe $8.5mm average for 2nd contract. Top RB money isn't that much money, especially in context of impact. If EE was seen as eventually taking up some of the role in the passing offense 34 yo Witten currently occupies, the money is easier to justify to me.

I'm telling you, the pick will be Ramsey. Stephen jones said that they look at what positions cost in free agency when they make picks. Read between the lines..... Good corners are VERY xpensive and great corners are stupid expensive. Compare Normans 15 million per year contract vs a Lamar miller or demarco murrays 6-7 million per year free agent signings. And both Carr and mo are free agents after this year. It's a no brainer.

I never believed we were taking Ramsey until the press conference today. I'm telling you, it's a done deal if SD doesn't take him.

I can see the rationale to take Zeke and he's the sexy pick. But I feel Bosa is a special player at DE. Perhaps he's not the traditional bend the corner LDE but I just think he's going to be an excellent RDE for the next decade who can boost this D immediately. Couple Bosa with likes of Clark, Butler, Austin at DT will certainly make a weakness into a strength. And we know a good DL goes a long way to helping the secondary.

The infatuation with DBs on this board is ridiculous. There has not been a DB worth a top ten pick since Sanders. I am for any position being drafted over Rsmsey this year.
