Enough with the Jerry only wants to win now garbage.

An Elite young RB behind an Elite Young OL is a bonus to ANY QB. Romo will surely benefit for as long as he can stay upright, but any other QB would benefit as well. Whether they end up drafting or signing a vet backup QB, this is a good situation for a QB to be in.

And as has been mentioned before, that combo helps the defense as well.

I would not have been mad either way. You can only pick one elite player at that spot. We either get a stud at CB and roll with "just good enough" at RB, or vise versa. There's still plenty of time and picks to address the defensive side of the ball.

I agree to an extent. Elliott helps in the short-term by being able to protect Romo with his blocking and being able to keep the offense on the field longer with his running. But he also helps in the long-term by giving Romo's successor an elite RB to pair with an elite OL. But it won't be enough if Romo's successor isn't any good. It'll help any young QB make a smooth transition into the NFL. Lots of young QBs are thrown to the wolves. But we all saw in 2015 that this offense isn't any good without a good QB. Elliott isn't fixing that.

I hope Elliott ends up being great. Truly great. Maybe it will take the sting out of watching Claiborne, Carr, Church in the secondary and Jack Crawford and David Irving starting at DE

The only issue I have is that next year you will be able to get a RB as good or better than Elliott in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Hopefully he will work out right away. Because once Romo retires, there will be dark days for this team.

He is the highest rated RB they have scouted since AP. If you don't believe that then whatever but you play for this season with a pick like Zeke. That's why I've stated I don't try to compare players from college to one's in the pro or draft. Why? Because that's one more year in college to prove themselves and to stay healthy. Hackenberg and Jack to name a couple. Just saying... you don't go into the draft thinking about your draft position next year

If you are building for the future you need a future QB. Then build a team around him. This team is build around Romo. It is most diffidently build to win now and to He_ _ with tomorrow.

A properly run organization doesn't think about just next year but 2, 3 and 5 years down the road. And beyond. Jerry doesn't do that.

I like Elliott and hope he does everything projected of him and more. But there isn't enough long term thinking among the heirarchy of this team. They were outsmarted by the Rams, Eagles and Broncos in this draft.

there is a big difference between putting yourself in position this year as well as next and just the future. Now if it was a QB of course that's a future pick because we have romo but if u out want to say there are going to be 2nd round players compareable or better than EE I think that's a very biased way of thinking. Like the boss man says and all these pro scouts and analysts (although they piss us off most of the time) Ezekiel easily has the most impact this year when it comes to potential. That potential is also good for as long he healthy and a cowboy. So next year we draft for what we want then. We still have this draft to finish.

RB's are not long term players. Outside of a few examples that is pretty much fact. This pick was great for the short term, but we arent winning anything of consequence until we fix the defense. That will take several year at least. By then Romo should be toast and Zeke may be wearing down.

One could argue that Ramsey and Henry could had just as much of an impact and more this year.

Jack Crawford only had 1.5 sacks less than Joey Bosa last year and that's with much less playing time and against NFL talent.
Just saying....

No, Gurley is that I believe and Zeke is not Gurley IMO.

If you want to then more power to you for figniting those problems. I see us with Zeke & I believe im in a better place believing we chose the right player. Hey if Bosa and Ramsey become stars cool. I also vouched for them. But fact is at #4 we got Zeke.

And what does Fixing the Defense entail?
Who was going to fix the defense in this draft?
Rookies don't play well on defense historically.

The opportunity to fix the defense was to sign Eric Weddle and Mario Williams....but that didn't happen.

Also this draft isn't over. We are only 1 player in so please don't tell me Ramsey was the 1 guy who would have fixed the defense.

I am very pumped for Zeke. It actually is my dream combination. But it far from solves are defensive problems. And we arent winning and SB's until we solve them.

If part of ability is availability as jerry keeps saying then I could see Gurley getting knocked for his injuries.
The man hasn't played a complete season on football without missing time for injury since high school...im not even sure he didn't get hurt in high school.

btw....I love Gurley's talent and watching him run....just would feel nervous over his multiple injuries. Zeke is put together in a different way or has better body control.
