I would hope we all do.

We will have to because that's probably the most we are going to get out of this pick. The problem I have and I believe most of us have is that this is short term. That's the real concern IMO.

Well I do think the pick is the best chance to give Romo to "win" now.

But when we do finally get a new QB ....... what would be better for him than a star running back and a dominate O-line (all very young)for him to lean on.

I think its now and future ........ the problem with our defense is scheme ...... we have thrown first round pick after first round pick at them and our D still sucks.

This was the line of thought with AD as well. As it turned out, his contract demands were so great that teams could never really bring in a top QB. This forces you to bring a guy in and hope you hit on one. If that happens, you could be OK but if it doesn't, your screwed.

As far as Defense goes, I don't think it's the scheme. It's the talent IMO.

Then the entire scouting department should be fired....... because we have placed defense as a priority for years and got nothig from it.

Not really worried about that because Dallas is not Minnesota ........ they never want to spend any money

  • Elliott was the top-rated player on the Cowboys’ board and was the club’s top-graded running back in several years, according to executive VP Stephen Jones (Twitter link via Ed Werder).

I believe that he probably was, after they picked him but honestly, it was reported previously that Ramsey was the top player on their board so who can say what that process really is but the Cowboys board is not the determining factor. The NFL is really a better way to determine this.

True. And the guy I'm rooting for is on our team. I'm not saying things just out of my ***. I am going about things with facts on hand. The quotes you brought up were what other teams are saying about Gurley. No where there does it say where we ranked him. But

I respect what people have to say but I still don't have to agree. Same goes for you with me. I know who we got at 4 and there's nothing else to it really. The difference though is I'm good with the selection while others are still shuffling and mind blown at what happened. Frederick part deuce. Not to that extent but what we have now is round 1 done and the other rounds to go. As a whole fan base we need to get over it or talk about round 2 and so on. There we can let our imaginations run wild until it becomes fact with who choose.

You may feel free to move on but this is a message board and so long as it's withing the rules, people can talk about whatever they like. We don't need to do anything. We can and should discuss everything Cowboys. That's what this board is for.

I like Elliot as a player but I think he was a poor pick at 4. It is what it is but nothing to be done about it now.

Enough with the Jerry only wants to win now garbage.

An Elite young RB behind an Elite Young OL is a bonus to ANY QB. Romo will surely benefit for as long as he can stay upright, but any other QB would benefit as well. Whether they end up drafting or signing a vet backup QB, this is a good situation for a QB to be in.

And as has been mentioned before, that combo helps the defense as well.

I would not have been mad either way. You can only pick one elite player at that spot. We either get a stud at CB and roll with "just good enough" at RB, or vise versa. There's still plenty of time and picks to address the defensive side of the ball.

Hey right on. It is a place to share your thoughts and feelings. That's why I enjoy coming here but more for news I can find in one place. Maybe I should avoid reading the whining and stay away from drawn out debates. Not here to say what to feel just I hope you guys don't limit the boy because of personal feelings.

Sounds like a good idea. As to limits, there are some and they are clearly outlined in the rules. So long as you stay within those, I don't see any reason why you would ever get limited. Happy posting HellCrowe.

I dont agree that drafting a RB that high is a sign that you build for the future.

To me its clear evidence that you think only about winning now.

With the way we value RBs giving them their first contract after their rookie one AND the lifespan of a good RB does not last longer then 5-6 years in the NFL i dont see any sign of longtime planning in this pick. This has written "win now" all over it.

Keep also in mind that we have big holes on defense and we denied to fill them. Which shows again we want everything quenched out of Romo we can get. And 2014 showed us that to have Romo play at his best he needs a great running game at his side.

One more thing is that it wont be a given that we will be able to sign everyone on OL so we can keep the OL together for a longer time then say 3-4 years.

Garret has had enough time (years) to show how he thinks winning in the NFL works. I do think what we have seen in 2014/2015 and will watch in 2016 is the way this team will stay as long as he coaches this team. Strong offense carried by a strong running game.. Medicore defense that is just strong enough to get teams off the field which have to play catch up because of our offense.

Sorry but a RB is cooked at very clear benchmarks of age and/or carries. There are exceptions but it's likely that Zeke's best performance will be in his first deal.

OL actually are guys that play for a decade or more routinely.
