This approach you are taking is not the best way to have good discussion on any particular subject. If that's how you want to go about it, thats OK but it's not the best way to provoke productive discussion. There are very knowledgeable posters on this board. Posters who know football since before there was an internet and before there were links. Just saying that it's pretty common knowledge that Gurley was considered the best prospect at RB since AD and he was rated higher then Zeke. The injury point is a good one and I can see that effecting things.

What makes you think that FO thinks Zeke is better than Gurley? Sounds like BS to me.

  • Elliott was the top-rated player on the Cowboys’ board and was the club’s top-graded running back in several years, according to executive VP Stephen Jones (Twitter link via Ed Werder).

No, Gurley is that I believe and Zeke is not Gurley IMO.

I think the consensuses disagrees with you. I think I do too. I like Gurley a lot, but I think Zeke is a more rounded back and fits the old style 3 down back better than Gurley does. Not to mention, I think Gurley's flailing running style is apt for injury. If I had a choice, I take Zeke over Gurley.

I believe that he probably was, after they picked him but honestly, it was reported previously that Ramsey was the top player on their board so who can say what that process really is but the Cowboys board is not the determining factor. The NFL is really a better way to determine this.

Which consensus? The one on this board or people who evaluate the talent professionally?

I do not refer to talking heads or general fans when I say that. I'm just talking about reports for scouts / teams.

Y'all keep drinking the Jerry-aid. Buy that 21 Zeke jersey..

I think it's easier then that. There is an index, of sorts, that rates these players I believe. I can't remember what it is called, unfortunately, but somebody will have it. That should really determine how they were rated, in terms of the scouts etc.

Except its not true. I mean Zeke is being compared to Emmitt Smith ........ does not mean that true either.

The only issue I have is that next year you will be able to get a RB as good or better than Elliott in the 2nd or 3rd round.

Hopefully he will work out right away. Because once Romo retires, there will be dark days for this team.

That is false. There will not be a rb of Zeke's caliber in next year's 2nd or 3rd round. He may be as good or better than the RBs available in next year's 1st round, as well as any available in recent years. As far as Gurley goes, we never had a chance to even sniff drafting him. Next year we won't have a chance to draft Fournette, either. THIS is our guy, and he is the real deal. Keep telling yourselves otherwise if it makes you feel better. But you will come around, when the lights go on. I'm confident EE and this O-Line will see to it that you have no other choice.
