going on in his family. I want to like the guy as a person and really as a player, but he has to give us something. he consistently misses offseason activities due to inujuries, burning houses, family issues, suspension etc.

He always has to play his way into shape. I say find a MLB and let him be gone

I don't think McClain is here because he's irreplaceable or they are trying to get him to hit hi potential. I think they know what they have in him and for the price its pretty good value. He's going to be a guy who at times can be dominant and at times can be a JAG and he's going to have some minor off the field issues that you will have to deal with. He's not irreplaceable but he has a role on this team especially with how much he gets paid. From all reports i've read he's a smart guy. He plays tough. Just can't string some consistency in there.

Rolando was flat out balling by the end of last season. The problem is it takes him 3/4 of the season to hit his stride. Never around in the offseason and always has a slow start to the season... he's not a good example of how to be a profession football player. If you're only worth your pay a fraction of the time, you're a liability.

They drafted his replacement with Jaylon Smith

I really don't worry about him at this point. Or really ever. We didn't draft him, we have paid him okay but never enough to hinder anything. He shows up and gives you something, fine. If he doesn't then let him go. As long as he's not as locker room or practice field problem then so be it.

Jeez, can we please get over this tired, overused, and lazy Milke Fisher meme?

I think this is probably as good of a short synopsis as you'll see on McClain. And yes, I do think this will be his last year wearing the star.

Ultimately, dude is his own worst enemy. He could've really cashed in had he been more dedicated/determined. But, at the same time, I do think he's exceeded expectations here in Dallas. I wasn't sure he'd even make the team when they signed him.

He does bring some good skills to the table, and he does have some value.

It's fair to say Ro McClain is pushing his luck by starting out the year this way. Missing OTAs has become routine for him but his talent is tough to come by, let alone match, considering the modest financial cost. Eventually, the Cowboys are likely to find another MLB with the kind of talent and level of reliability that will allow them to send Rolando packing. Until that happens, expect to see him remain a Cowboy, at least for this year.

Right now he's our only "mean" player on D and lays the wood. Lee is more talented but that brute strength shows in some of Ro's tackles/stuffs (RBs stop in their tracks; no more yardage after contact or falling forward, etc). I don't see him here long term either, but he has exceeded expectations outside of the JAG moments/games in his play. Own worst enemy is a good way to describe Ro in terms of motivation to be a great NFL player. He just knows he has the skills but doesn't care for the time/effort, etc.
