American football has overtaken the football the rest of the world knows on at least one metric.
The Dallas Cowboys are the world's most valuable sports team for 2016, worth about $4 billion, according to Forbes. The National Football League franchise's value popped 25 percent from last year, the publication said.
The results mark the first time since Forbes' rankings started in 2011 that a soccer team did not take the top spot. Spanish juggernaut Real Madrid fell to second, but its value still rose 12 percent to $3.7 billion.

anyone else sick of hearing about how much the cowboys are worth as if it means anything to fans or actual football?

I seemingly can not turn on my local news without one of the sports reporters mentioning how much the stadium or that dreadfully named "star" complex costs.

Who cares? This family loves to tell everyone how much it spends on everything. I don't get it.

would be great if JJ put some of that new found wealth (on paper) and put it to use on our dline......possibly make an incising off to the Jet to trade Wilkerson! I know, I dream.....

As you know, having money and having cap room are not one in the same.

Also, Dallas just invested heavily in DT 2 straight years with Crawford and now the addition of Cedric Thornton
Wilkerson is better as a 3-4 DE or 4-3 DT

And the "family" is not saying how much they spend...you just said how the reporters are always saying it.

It's the media and the fans that keep bringing it up.

I love hearing this. Obviously winning championships is the ultimate goal but it's fun being a fan of such a global entity like the Dallas Cowboys are. I love being able to flip on ESPN and they're talking about us half the time. I love how we play in the best stadium in the world and get the most publicity. We may be used to it at this point but I guarantee if it was taken away and we were somehow in the position of the Jacksonville Jags in terms of popularity and recognition, we would all hate it.

not true. It was Stephen one night and charlotte repeatedly other times. she did a today show tour and talked about what everything cost more than anything.

cant blame reporters if these are the quotes they keep getting.

It depends on the context of the show. If she was asked about it, then she answers. Did she come out and say...hey, we spent this much....or was she asked, or the subject was brought up.
I didn't see it, so can't comment. But most likely she was asked, as Stephen was also. Or somehow the topic came up. So how are they to avoid it.

Look no further than this thread to find fans that are titillated by the team's meaningless market power.

Its fine, I didn't mean to be that guy.

I'm just so exhausted from years and years of hearing about how much the stadium and now the new valley ranch complex costs.

They said it on their own. Just like they always have.

Wait till the first week of camp, I am sure we are going to get beat over the head with articles about the cost of the facility. Yes with quotes

Well, if they bother you that much, don't read it, change the channel or station.

THIS is why they have become the most valuable franchise is the world. Because this organization...foremost priority....is winning off the field. And MANY fans are ok with this and co-sign it in a myriad of ways. And as long as the fans are OK with this....they will continue to win off the field. There is ZERO incentive for Jerry to change his ways. Like I said...he is ALWAYS winning.

We are all entitled to our own opinion. So I cannot say you or right or wrong. But for me...at the end of games...at the end of the season.....how much money the Jones family made does not move me. I don't reap one red cent for the wealth they accumulate. My only reward for my investment is winning. And I am not some spoiled fan that thinks winning the Super Bowl every year is the ONLY definition of on field success. But when you do not even play in conference championship game in over 20 years... A professional football performance on Sundays would generally satisfy me. Because it would lead to more winning than losing. And last year...we saw very little in the way of a professional performance. It left me wondering what the heck they do during the week.

Like I have said many times over...Jerry and his minions have pulled and continue to pull off the biggest caper in modern sports history

If you don't think Jerry and company are trying to put together a winning team you're out of your mind. Jerry loves the glitz and glamour but all of that would be amplified times 10 if we were able to consistently make it to the conference finals or even the super bowl. He knows that. He's experienced that. You better believe he wants to get back in that position.

for me I could care less how much money jerry makes or how much things cost I want to see a team win on the field consistently go deep in the playoffs not have our season be done the first week of January like usual.

I don't know...that fact comes in handy for the trolls who like to try and steal the Cowboys title of America's Team. They should be happy we are not claiming Universe's Team.

Awww some good news for a change!! NICE
