I don't know about this source, but it is interesting.

NFL Rumors: Dallas Cowboys Engaged In Geno Smith Trade Deal; Tony Romo, Dez Bryant Excited For QB

...The Dallas Cowboys, albeit a team that failed to become contenders last NFL season, are poised to bounce back exponentially this year. With the fully recovered Tony Romo leading the football team, fans of the group are eager to see how the Jerry Jones squad will turn things around for the franchise. However, the lack of a backup quarterback capable and healthy enough to head the Dallas Cowboys if Tony Romo gets injured is a pressing need today.

Will this be filled by Geno Smith? Given his comments following the Ryan Fitzpatrick contract signing this NFL offseason, the quarterback shared his openness to trade talks anytime. At this point, however, the New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys have yet to officially comment of the possible Geno Smith trade. What is certain is that the young quarterback is working at regaining his reputation as a promising NFL star and hopefully, taking back his starting role from Ryan Fitzpatrick.

I feel better about Showers running our offense then I would Geno Smith. Guy is super spare.

I didn't think there was single scenario out there where I would say "I'd rather just go with Dak Prescott"

I was wrong.

Wouldn't make a lot of sense, he's accomplished about as much as Showers has... Stick with Showers.

Trade for a DE before you even think about trading for a QB. In the end I see little truth to this claim.

After tonight the circus will continue and head to Seattle for a thursday night show.........
If it doesn't cost much..Smith could compete with DAK for the backup.

My guess is they don't want to put all the pressure on DAK to play immediately.

Smith for a year while we see what happens could be smart.

If it doesn't workout..

nothing lost.

I do think Showers will be cut.

He has nothing at this level.

His arm strength is subpar..

he runs out of the pocket with any pressure..

and throws the ball in a downward motion to the ground not up like DAK..

Next QB off the waiver.

Dak and a 5th for Geno. Done!

the Jets can send us Geno and their 1st, 2nd and 3rd rounders in 2017 and 1st, 2nd and 3rd in 2018 and 1st, 4th and 7th in 2019 to come to Dallas and watch Dak play...lol

Smith isn't great for the locker room either.
Let's ride Dak at #2 and let him keep growing.
You know Geno won't be happy at #3.
