Caught a segment with him on the radio today. Casillas was asked about Zeke being called a generational type back. Tony (who never minces words) said, he wouldn't know because he's never seen him play a snap yet. Said in Dallas we like to anoint guys too soon. Other guys are in shape and working hard...

Have at it. Don't shoot the messenger.

I like tony Casillas as he usually has decent things to say and sensible even on criticism. But this seems a bit over the top for him and that comment. Unless he said it jokingly, that is understandable.

I don't think anyone is anointing him, nor Dak, might as well put him in there to. I think it's more of an excitement, not just about the offense this year, but about the future years also.
Now if we can just get some defensive players to get that excited over. Maybe some step up this year for us to be. I think we have a few that can.

I can tell you personally that the biggest reason I think Zeke will have success is because of this Oline and the offense. We have seen quite plainly that you put ANYONE behind this line and they have a career year. You combine that with his obvious talent and mental makeup and its just too much to ignore. If Zeke wasnt here people would be saying the same things about MOrris and he would be a top 8 pick in the first round of Fantasy.

I totally agree with him. Everyone has penciled in Zeke as this fantastic draft pick and likely top 5 back in the league. Granted I don't live in Texas or California and haven't seen the small sampling from training camp (when he wasn't sitting on the sideline), but for goodness sake! Let the guy at least take a preseason snap! He hasn't played a down, hasn't proven he can actually run against NFL defenses (something that Urban Meyer system backs struggle with), and definitely hasn't shown that he can stay healthy. If you aren't available to play you are no good to the team.

Based on the evidence we have so far, Morris is the best back on the team at the moment. Let Zeke earn it before he's showered with any sort of praise.

Jameill Showers can give him praise, though.

I don't see anything wrong with what he said. He's making a comparison to other RBs who have been able to practice throughout preseason, working hard and are naturally in better condition.

I agree with him.

The expectations need to be high. No babying this guy.

We invested a top 5 pick on a RB. Everyone is happy blah blah..

Well now it's time to produce and it's time to produce QUICK.

If he's a good player we will know very early. This isn't a 3 year deal like most Rookies.

We'll know if Zeke is a stud by November.

Its a fair statement. We dont know what we have. But the coaches do. They feel hes going to be great. Based on his college career and our Oline, that looks like a great possiblity. But till he takes the rock and runs, we dont know. Fans and pundits can anoint and denounce all they want, does not change what the player does on Sundays. Its up to Zeke and the team to shut up denouncers. Lets see how they do at that. My money is on him being what the coaches think and the denouncers becoming believers

Nick Saben's RB's haven't had much success either.
I think Carlos Hyde may have something to say about RB's under Urban Meyer. Though not recruited by Urban, but he played for him for 2 years, his best 2 years at OSU.

Hard to argue this under the current regime. Just read in the news zone our healthy starters will only play a couple of series while Seattle and every other Nfl team plays through the half....I get we don't want these guys hurt but the fact is they need the reps. Who needs to practice to get better or study for a test or brush up your knowledge before a presentation or in my case get the buns out before I start flipping burgers. I just don't get it.

Only if our own fan base [we know which ones] would apply this logic to our defensive players...wait until they get some games in first....

I've annointed Zeke as the next Trent Richardson. Who want's excitement. Just misery and depression. Wonder if posters will say my misery has too much excitement, and I should hold back even more.

Yea He needs to play. I bet even zeke would tell you that.

I have no issue with Romo comment after all like any sport it is a show me game. Where you got drafted and what you did in college means nothing it is now all about showing it now.

Clearly the position he was drafted means there will be high expectation of him as it should be but until he goes out there and performs he is just one of 53 on a team. You got to go out and earn the rest

Let's see how he does tomorrow. I actually wanted to do more for the defense in the draft but that ship has sailed. Now that he's here I'm rooting for him.

If Zeke strings together 3-4 straight 1500 yard rushing years, then this discussion can maybe begin. And even then, it would just be a beginning.

Tony C is right. We anoint way too early around here.
I can think of two Cowboys players already who haven't even played a regular season down that are being anointed by some on seemingly a daily basis.
