Why do people care so much if fans act fanatical? Who cares if people are choosing to be excited over a player? Who cares if someone else will pump a player up to all pro levels and then the player fails to meet expectations?

This is entertainment. Be fricken entertained..

Stop trying to rain on people's parades...let them have their entertainment the way they find it the most entertaining..

Be fanatical. Paint your face if you want. Buy anyone's jersey you want. Enjoy the ride.

I totally agree with him. Everyone has penciled in Zeke as this fantastic draft pick and likely top 5 back in the league. Granted I don't live in Texas or California and haven't seen the small sampling from training camp (when he wasn't sitting on the sideline), but for goodness sake! Let the guy at least take a preseason snap! He hasn't played a down, hasn't proven he can actually run against NFL defenses (something that Urban Meyer system backs struggle with), and definitely hasn't shown that he can stay healthy. If you aren't available to play you are no good to the team.

Based on the evidence we have so far, Morris is the best back on the team at the moment. Let Zeke earn it before he's showered with any sort of praise.

Jameill Showers can give him praise, though.

Couldn't agree with you more!!

Probably for the same reason you seem to care about how I (and others) feel about unbridled fanaticism. We can all have opinions both about the players and the fan base.

How you doin'?

The neighbors decided to have a happy Tuesday party last night so I'm a tad hungover, but other than that, I'm swell. Thanks for asking.

As far as the Cowboys go, I have not only anointed Zeke so far, but also Prescott and am working on Jenkins. So I'm ahead of schedule.

I don't think Zeke is a generational back, I think he has everything to be a great back. I don't think he's as good a runner as Gurley. I think he should be more complete.

Hard to argue this under the current regime. Just read in the news zone our healthy starters will only play a couple of series while Seattle and every other Nfl team plays through the half....I get we don't want these guys hurt but the fact is they need the reps. Who needs to practice to get better or study for a test or brush up your knowledge before a presentation or in my case get the buns out before I start flipping burgers. I just don't get it.

This team is scared to death of injuries

If Zeke strings together 3-4 straight 1500 yard rushing years, then this discussion can maybe begin. And even then, it would just be a beginning.

Tony C is right. We anoint way too early around here.
I can think of two Cowboys players already who haven't even played a regular season down that are being anointed by some on seemingly a daily basis.

You talking Dak?

After week three, let's look and see how many teams play all their starters through the half.
I bet it's less than half....far less.

The next time Tony Casillas said something cogent, original, and contemplative.....will be the first time.

He's just a rambling mix of poorly constructed thoughts, and it doesn't help that he struggles mightily with the King's English.

I root for the guy to be interesting and insightful. He just isn't.

He may be right but I'm a fan, so I will get excited about and "anoint" whomever I damn well please.

Why is he right? Because he says he has to see Zeke be a great player before he'll proclaim that Zeke is a great player? That's...insightful.

Zeke is a great player. He is a generational player. Now get your popcorn ready because he is about to wreck shop. Tony C can wallow around in his ignorance if he likes, I know what I know.

Ok I get it. Fan's are not allowed to get excited. I guess we should wallow in dismay 24/7. Cool.

This kid was taken as a top 4 pick. If he doesn't become an all pro at some point it will be considered a failure. And I'm a huge zeke fan but when you're taken that high you have to make an impact for years on end.

Old school guys are just upset seeing players being held out of practice to protect them from injuries. They are from a time where it was expected that you have to push through injuries, no matter if it's in practice or the regular season. Now coaches realize that practice time is not worth having a guy start a long season with a nagging injury. As Garrett said, ideally everyone is practicing everyday, but that's not the world we live in.

Dak and Zeke, yes.
I did say "by some"

I wouldn't call the noise around Dak as anointing him, because that isn't coming from the team. Certainly not the should Dak start week 1 hype.

Some of this is also media driven. I remember before Roy Williams debut, JJT had a story in the DMN about Roy being the next Ronnie Lott with quotes from Lott.

We can and do.
My question is why do people feel the need to rain on people's parade?
I can easily explain why I don't like people raining on others parade. It's fairly simple. I think people should enjoy there pastime 100%. Allowing negativity creep in will not add to their enjoyment.

So many fans have allowed negativity to water down the thrills of victory with fears of the agony of defeat. A fun entertainment outlet can become an unhealthy obsession in some cases. (I live in the Philly market haha)

We all have every right to say almost anything we feel. That what makes this place so great.

I appreciate your perspective.

Caught a segment with him on the radio today. Casillas was asked about Zeke being called a generational type back. Tony (who never minces words) said, he wouldn't know because he's never seen him play a snap yet. Said in Dallas we like to anoint guys too soon. Other guys are in shape and working hard...

Have at it. Don't shoot the messenger.
Casillas is terrible as a media guy. I loved him as a player, but it's painful to listen to him attempt to be a media guy.

Nothing Cassias said was untrue. All of it is factual. I don't know how anybody could find fault with his statement.

This team is scared to death of injuries

To be fair, several healthy QB's have not played a down in preseason....Rodgers, Rothlisberger, Brady.

Garrett said he likes to see how our #2's and #3's do playing against guys considered a level above, so that is why we might pull guys earlier than other teams. I don't think is has hurt us to start a season to be honest.
