Not impressed with Lee, Scandrick, Crawford, or Jones yesterday.

Jones got burned badly on the long pass to OBJ where Scandrick was covering him. He was in a Cover 2 and took a terrible angle and gave up a huge play.
Jones got burnt on a 1 on 1 against Witten going 2 mph in camp... I don't know about Byron anymore. No wonder they put him at safety.

I have not watched the game yet but I'm going to guess Dallas missed their mercurial enigmatic thumper in the middle. Like it or not, he made everyone else's job easier.

Crawford actually played pretty good.
I've never understood the hype on him. Sounds like he has great camps and can never translate it
He actually played pretty well. He's our best guy, he shouldn't be your best guy.

Him and McClain battled, when they rested a series, we were doomed.

I don't think Jones or Scandrick are anything special, but they'd look a heck of a lot better if there was anything close to a consistent pass rush in front of them.

In my opinion, we have the least amount of front seven talent since I began watching the team, which was in the 70s.

Those four guys are supposed to be the heart and soul of our defense. I didn't see any heart or soul and very little skill from any of them yesterday. Yes, Jones made one nice play on a ball. Other than that, they were all average.

Who would have thought the best looking players on our defense the first game of the year would be Morris Claiborne and Terrel McClain!?!? Heck, the much-aligned J.J. Wilcox made the biggest and most important hit of the day.

Our studs gotta show up and play with some fire! I'm hoping Scandrick's just gotta get the fire back, because he was that guy before. I'm hoping Jones is going to settle in at some point this season and be the great player people are hoping. Lee and Crawford, I don't know what to say. There's always hope D. Lawrence can be that guy when he gets back. I don't want Ro McClain back, but I kinda miss that guy - he's the only guy we had who the opposing team feared.
Yeah- I was surprised at Lee's play as well. He looked a little lost, and Scandrick is clearly much slower as a result of his injury.

Lmao. Cmon man there is absolutely no way some teenager can block a professional DE.

Maybe we can get one of the Frisco kids to see if they could block Crawford in 1 on 1 drills or a random practice squad player at the next practice. I'd bet you money on that.

Get it done Jerry!

Our Starting DEs right yes. If it was not for that coverage sack there would have been no sacks yesterday.

Crawford is the most overrated in the bunch. Honestly next draft this team has to go heavy on defense. LBs, DL, and CBs. Every position across the board.

If this team had a better 3 tech we would see the true Marinelli defense that was in Chicago and Tampa.

Scandrick has always been a jag, he had 1 really good season as a pro but his junkyard dog mentality had most fans drinking the kool aid.

Crawford, another jag. He flashes at times and then disappears, our #1 DT but he's a #2 on most other teams, at best.

I've got no explanation for Lee and Byron I didn't really notice.
Yeah Scandrick is just like AJ styles from the WWE. All the fans love his Act, but he's no true champion. Old school guys like Triple H would destroy him. :)

They may be/are subpar compared to their NFL peers but there is no way a professional Athlete would lose to a teenager.

I've been watching this team for 35 years and I agree that this is the worst front seven I have seen. Doomsday Defense is rolling over in it's grave. Even with Dlaw coming back and Gregory ( I doubt we ever see Gregory on the field again), but lets say Gregory comes back with DLaw for the 5th game. It's still the worst front 7 I've seen. DLaw had 6 sacks last year and Gregory had 0. DT's are JAGs and the only LBer that is talented is hurt a lot and after every play you got to check to see if he isn't hurt.

We're holding out hope that DLaw will make a difference. I don't think he'll add that much and Gregory was invisible last year and he'll just be a warm body for the rotation.

Dude it was hyperbole. Either way the NYG were blocking the DE with their tackles one on one and funneling help to the DTs since they are the only threat along the line

Your hyperbole sucks. Why not just say this instead of saying a teenager could beat a grown man. Anyway I'm glad you are not stupid.

Jones did a great job covering the TE yesterday on more than one occasion.

He also showed good speed to make sure OBJ didnt score after he torched Scandrick.

Fans tend to overrate these players

Lee is very very good but not great and oft injured

Jones is developing so it is early yet

Crawford and Oscan are overpaid JAGs

Jerry does this all the time, he overpays players and then expects them to perform at that level. Guess what? They can't

This is a terrible terrible defense

Byron Jones is a wasted pick...He is athletic but lacks awareness. He had a total of 7 picks and 0 forced fumbles in 4 years in college. I've never been a big fan of drafting combine workout warriors.

There is no one on our defense that scares anyone. By halftime, it was apparent there is no one on our offense that scares anyone.
