Lets say Garrett, Linehan and some team members want to keep rolling with Dak, but Jerry and Stephen want Romo to take over in a couple weeks. How does that play out?

then dak will be the starter.

Jerry talks to the media because they are obsessed with him. He gets more attention than anyone, he was asked and he answered.

If garrett and linehan tell jerry and stephen to stay the course with Dak I believe they will.

I think Jerry will let Garrett play who he feels should play. I think jerry is involved in a lot but I also think Jerry will let the coach do what he needs to do on the field.

Some of you guys really underestimate Jerry and his relationship with Romo. Romo has Jerry's ear. If Romo is ready to play and tells Jerry he's good and Jerry still wants him out there since he's paying massive money, he plays. It's that simple sadly.

Jerry can voice his opinion, but I really don't think he dictates over Garrett who the starter is.

he also pays a lot of money to his staff. Jerry wants to win, I don't think he would play Romo over money.

I don't think money has anything to do with it. the issue will be if Romo is healthy will he be Romo? Will he be rusty? How will it affect the team? If Romo struggles how will we know when to go back to Dak? What happens when we go back to Dak? What happens if Dak then struggles if he doesnt play for a month?

I do not think money has anything to do with it. I think Jerry will need to be convinced Romo can not play at a high level before he would agree but I do not think he would make the decision himself anymore. Late 90's early 00's Jerry would make the decision himself 100% but i do not think he does anymore.

Owners trump employees. That's how it usually works.
All snarkiness aside, I think it will be up to Jerry and his son.

It would be possible there will be different opinions about it.

My suggestion is as long as the team is playing all in like right now..

you stay with DAK and let Romo heal as long as possible.

This is a broken bone in your back..not your pinky finger.

The longer he heals..the longer the odds he lowers the risk of more injury which could finish his season and his career.

Why rush him back?

I would wait until after Thanksgiving and then in December let him play a quarter or two and see how it goes.

If he looks good..leave him in.

If not, put DAK back in.

Try it again the next game..

until we know he is good to go.

If he is not..save him for next season and just let him backup.

Let him and DAK compete to start next year.

That allows everybody to see why he plays or why not.

The team sees it..the fans see it an the experts see it.

Everybody wins.

I think Jerry will let Garrett hang or help himself with the rope of his choosing because at the end of the day, this decision could determine rather or not Garrett has a job at the end of the year. If Jones makes the decision for him and turns out to be wrong, he can't in good conscience fire the guy who told him to do the opposite.

Well in the last jg presser after cin game he said something that sounded like his plan was to stick with dak if he keeps winning.
I think Linehan loves dak, he has more control over dak, and dak does what they tell him, where as tony would ad lib more.

The jones boys can overide the coaches, but as long as dak is winning they will probably ride Dak.

Keep in mind they watch the same games we do, and like us they are impressed with dak.
But like some here, they may still think tony is somehow better.
No matter who is better, I think you dont mess with a winning streak.

Who signs the paychecks?

There is an old saying that goes, "The man with the gold makes the rules".

This is a good question, my guess is Jerry is capable of anything.

It all depends how bad Jerry wants Romo to play. Jerry gets his way no matter what the coaches want, if there's ever really a conflict there. I don't believe there ought to be much doubt about it.

And it doesn't matter much what Stephen wants in this scenario. If everybody but Jerry wants Dak and Jerry's dead-set on it being Romo be ready to cringe with ever sack because it's going to be Tony Romo.

I think the more likely scenario is Jerry wants to stick w Dak and the staff wants to go to Romo

I agree with this, too, btw.

Though, what I really think is that Romo's coming back no matter what and most of this is tempest-in-a-teapot stuff.

If Romo comes back week 8 or 9 what do you think his chances are of staying healthy for the rest of the season/playoffs?

Not sure. If you saw the injury graphic from the game yesterday, it was pretty much the two broken collar bones prior to this current injury. The rest of his issues are overblown. I don't really think he's at much elevated risk of injury over any other player his age at his position, honestly. I know everybody thinks his spine is made of styrofoam at this point, but that's not really anything I lose sleep over.

What I do wonder, though, is how much the time off is going to affect him. He's missed a lot of game time at this point, his skill players are all used to a different signal caller, it's not going to be the seamless. I also wonder how he reacts to the competition from a younger player for the first time.

My best guess is that he rises to the challenge competition wise, after 2-3 games where he's fairly rusty but still playing well. We're going to need the best Tony Romo can give us for games like the MIN and PIT games coming up. Everything else is a game I think Dak gives us every bit as much of a chance to win as Tony does. If I"m coach, though, I'm tempted to sit him through the PHI game, though, if we win in GB. CLE is a good game to get back up to speed with. Taking a 5-1 team and putting Tony in after the bye against the Eagles and having him struggle for a week would start everybody howling, and maybe rightly so. Getting Tony up to speed v. a weaker opponent and playing to his usual level not long after that and I don't see how anybody seriously complains about the decision.

More importantly........

.............What if the team wants to stick with Dak?

It's not about loyalty, it's about winning.
