This is completely displacing the blame. If it's illegal or not allowed at your place of work, just don't do it. One doesn't just accidentally smoke it.

And I'm sure everyone critical of Gregory would never sneak a beer at a bar if it was illegal in their workplace.

I'd just cut Gregory now. No point to keeping him. Start searching for DE talent now.

Edit: actually, we may save cap if we keep him while he's suspended opposed to cutting. If so, point him towards the nearest Planet Fitness and tell him to call in a year.

Just because your irresponsible don't assume we all are. I've certainly never sneaked a beer in at work.

99% of NFL players have mandated drug testing figured out. They know when the test are coming and stop.

When you fail the test the day before you tryout at the Combines..who's the fool here . I'd certainly place the blame on whoever decided to take the chance on Gregory in the draft not the drug laws or NFL policies.

Strip off that 94 jersey it should have been earned anyway !

This is from someone who really was holding out with hope there was a chance this kid could turn it around.

I still hope this report is false

In hindsight...what a mockery of that jersey.

Did I say at work? No. I'm glad you can read to fit your agenda though.

And it's you're. Probably shouldn't try and hate when you can't spell.

No big deal. To those who want to cut him, what is the point? He doesn't count as a roster spot and he isn't hurting the cap at all. He isn't getting paid at all. So, might as well just wait it out. Doesn't hurt to keep him as long as he isn't influencing others. And maybe the carrot of playing after his next one year suspension may lead him on a path to recovery. I doubt it but at least it gives him and his family some hope.

"just don't do it" is a lot easier for people without mental issues to say than it is for people with them. It's easy for me to "just not do it." it's deeper than that. and if he isn't hurting anybody, then what does it matter?

He does not have to be in the NFL if it is that important to him to smoke. Your logic goes both ways.

I feel for the kid, seriously. There's no way he's just making these decisions, valuing drugs more than football. He has an addiction. Say whatever you want about weed, he has an addiction to it, whether physical or emotional. I can't imagine what he's going through, but I've seen addiction and how it grabs a person beyond his/her control.

Cutting him doesn't do us any good, doesn't change anything about our team. I think Jerry will continue to provide a team and a place where he can workout and receive support. He needs help; if you want to release him after he gets through this, fine, but he needs help.

Do we know it was weed that failed the test or maybe something else? Come to the CFL Randy there's no test for weed here in Canada. Oh ya and if you are the tops at your position here you will max out at tops.....$125,000 per season if you are lucky probably more like $80,000 per. Just wanted to let you know there's a bit of a drop here. Not trying to be funny here but just drawing a comparison to the CFL and NFL salaries. Now if he has to smoke to cover up other problems then i do feel sorry for him and hope he conquers those problems. Clean up Randy and get back on track.

I agree with much of what you said and I think Jerry will do all he can to help Gregory but Dallas can't afford to waste a roster spot for Gregory.

Face it he is in the 2nd year of a 4 year deal and year 3 just went out the window

Weed does more damage to more people by being illegal than it would if it were legal and controlled like alcohol.

One of the biggest cons right now is that marijuana is harmless. It's mind boggling just how ignorant or willfully blind users are.

Let's just say that later in life they're going to have some unpleasant surprises because of the long term effects of use.

The government is allowing this nonsense because it's another potential revenue source. Just like big tobacco they'll milk the poor saps who fall for this con and act like they had no idea of the risks when health issues start manifesting themselves.

Read. Do research. Think.

Only thing I'm going to add is that if trying to prepare for a high pressure job is what's contributing to this, then he's probably better off learning a new skill. Not everyone is cut out for high pressure jobs. I'm not close enough to him to know what's going on but it seems like he gets in trouble every time a potential pressure situation is looming, be it the combine or having to play. Doesn't really matter to me what they do since he's not affecting the roster and I can't imagine any player being influenced by him, except maybe as a scarecrow (this is what could happen to me...). Only the people close to him can really figure out what's best for him going forward.

Horrible analogy. If I had already busted at work for said beer, no, I wouldn't sneak a beer if it were not allowed at my work. That would be idiotic.

Cut him.

We can't have him around the team, around the rookies. Clearly he or whoever he hangs out with is not a positive influence. The guy needs rehab.

It might not seem like a big deal, but when you are put in a position to choose your career over a controlled substance and you can't give up the controlled substance, then you have a problem.

He can move to Washington or Colorado and smoke all he wants and work at the 7-11 but he doesn't belong in this organization.
