News: PFT: Cowboys slam door on talk on benching Dak Prescott

There is no turning back. Period. Whether they stumble and limp into the playoffs averaging less than 17pts/gm or not. Or lose in their 1st game with the offense playing poorly. They are married to Prescott now and should let it play out.

Edit: I would have hedged my bets more if the decision was mine to make...I would have stuck to the hot hand mantra so the team knows that a change can occur. Oh well...it is what it is. Let's go Cowboys!

I'm a fan of Dak and he should start and play the next game

However every year is different and it is about winning the SB and the NFC is very weak this year

If Dak craps the bed best game AND if Romo is looking great in practices, I would start him after the TB game
I would play him the tampa game, that is a tougher game than detroit.

Honestly it's hard to predict what they are going to do because so little of it is based on logic anyway. Clearly the hot hand is gone and has been gone for a couple of weeks so exactly what are they using to decide which QB is going to play? I keep going back to what Linehan said about how hard it is to change QBs in the season and think it has to be mostly about that now.
All of this could have been avoided if Jerry and Stephen weren't so spineless and has just ignored the media and put Romo in when he was ready. We would already have an answer back on what we had with Romo and the rest of the conference is so bad that 11 wins might take HFA, so we had plenty of buffer. But our dopey owner and coach picked a weird time to believe in magic and it's probably going to end up costing us.

That's really it at this juncture.

It has to be played out with Prescott as the starting QB.

people will always think tony can do better , and weedon looked great in practice, but tony cant play the giants, that is already done.
let him play a tough team now and see how he does.
heck rest dak and let tony win the next game or 2 lol.
or just stick with dak and see if it gets better.

I think there is time
Let Dak play against TB at home
They're a playoff caliber team at home for us
If he plays good he starts
If he plays poorly we start Romo against Detroit

Sounds like those quotes were in response to questions about whether they considered pulling Dak yesterday.

Anyone thinking the front office will be returning the reins to Romo should go back and really really REALLY listen to the man talk during The Statement. Romo told the entire world the quarterback change (barring injury) was permanent. Just because he didn't say the words, "I've taken my last snaps in Dallas" doesn't mean he didn't imply the exact same thing--which he did.

And remember when everybody said this was Tony's team? This is the NFL, nothing is permanent

I would hope people would have a bit of sense about themselves not to think they'd shut Dak down over one bad outing.

They're married to him for 2016. Win, lose, or draw.

Which is completely ridiculous. Oh, not one bad outing -- three bad outings. But hey, let's keep a rookie in there because apparently, everything is written in stone and cannot be modified based on changing circumstances. But at least they can say they kept the ship steady in times of turmoil, huh? LOL.

Why do people keep saying the Cowboys are "Married to Dak for 2016"? No, they aren't. They aren't going to sit him after 1 or 2 bad games, but if he plays the same way over the next 6 quarters, we'll be saying hello to old #9 for the 2nd half of the Lions game. Dak has helped guide this team to an 11-2 record, and a win or two shy of home field advantage throughout the playoffs, which is very impressive. That being said, if he suddenly can't get the job done over 2 or 3 games, the Cowboys HAVE to go to Romo. The NFC is as weak as it's been in a long time, there isn't a team other than Seattle that scares anyone. Take them out of Seattle and they don't even scare anyone. The Boys have a real shot at making it to the SB, so why would they "ride it out" with a QB that has lost his mojo, when they have a proven veteran chomping at the bit to get back under center? You have to give it your best shot, with your best players, right now. This year, not next year. Winning in the NFL is hard, and nothing is guaranteed from one season to the next(just ask the panthers). Who knows when/if they'll get to this point again?

I agree that you can't bench him. Its ride or die now. But for the record, it's not one bad game. He has had a few bad games in a row now, they just won all the others in spite of QB play. And I think it is sad that they gave up a chance for this team to win a SB with their decision but I guess they figure the future is more important that the here and now.

One bad outing? 2 terrible games in a row. Utter 3rd down incompetence 2 games in a row. If he plays like crap again this week, why would we NOT start the best QB on the team? Because of some big decision that can never be changed? That's ridiculous. We have an All-Pro vet watching a rookie struggle with reads and throws he could make in his sleep. There are no great teams this year and this team might be pissing away a great chance at #6.

Do people think that Dak is so mentally/emotionally fragile that he couldn't handle being benched for an All-Pro vet during his rookie year when he struggled? Give me a break. The best QB is not playing and it's an absolute shame.
