News: DMN: NFL VP officiating Dean Blandino on whether Dez caught the ball, running into Cowboys

The most basic part of the game becomes an issue every week. Perhaps people are getting sick of it (ratings)?

If it was ruled a catch would it even be a subject of debate two years later? The fact that it is still a controversial call two years later says something. And if it is a subjective call as he called it how can it be overturned if originally called a catch?
This is what gets me about a so-called subjective call. In the absence of clear evidence to the contrary, the ruling on the field stands as called.

You can never find enough dead horses to beat.
Did Somebody mention "Beating Dead Horses?" Dean BLINDino...

Set aside "football move" for a moment. Did the ball ever hit the ground? It appeared to me it might have, but I never saw an angle that I think could be considered indisputable.

Two years later, I'm still waiting for the INCONCLUSIVE evidence that the ball ever hit the ground.
Exactly..that's my biggest beef with all of it. It might have, it's a good chance it did, but I've never seen it

It could have just as easily bounced off his inner forearm

Dean Blandino does not get overall positive feedback from his fan interactions. Give me a break.

Thats a load of crap. There isnt a single fan base that likes the way games are officiated. That is a reflection of inconsistencies. I am so tired of being short changed by the NFL with thier part-time referees.

Correct theyve fed us the conclusive line for years. They are supposed to go with the ruling on the field and this time they choose not to based on NOTHING.

Some on here swear it did. I've seen the replays as closely as I could. I can't tell for sure. The ball moved, but was that from the momentum from his hand hitting?
I'm pretty sure the ball hit. Not positive.

They should have asked him to define "time."

Dez had control and took three steps (not just two feet down), and some "time" obviously passed. If there is a minimum amount of time that has to pass no matter how many steps the receiver takes, then it should be stated.
I still can't understand why no one has ever asked him the question about the judgment of Side Judge Terry Brown that enough "time/football move" had been achieved and that is why he called it a catch and down by contact. With the emphasis in 2014 of letting the call on the field stand, something extremely dirty had to happen behind the scenes to change it. That question has never been answered to my satisfaction and probably never will be.

The fans were robbed in that game because we really didn't get to see the game settled on the field. Unfortunately, this was Tony Romo's best shot to lead a team to a Super Bowl and it was taken away from him in a most dubious manner.
