Dak reminds me a lot of young Byron Leftwich so far. Let's see if he becomes more than just that. He certainly has a better offense.

I don't think so at all. I agree with Chris Carter as Dak being a better version of Wilson

That's the comparison I always come back too.

I think Dak is better in the pocket than Wilson and definitely showed more upside but they are both so good at playaction passing and boot legs out of the pocket.






This is off-topic but I just feel like with how Dak likes to run an offense and how Zeke likes to get the edge on his runs that a young TE that is really good all around at blocking and getting vertical could really open up this offense even more.

I always expect a sophomore slump after a great rookie season. Dak sure seems to have it all together, and he's got enough things to work on you can see him becoming a dramatically better player in a year or three. But you never know.

How much would it suck to trade Tony, have Dak go in the tank, and then be stuck asking what the hell happened in 2016?

If he has the same support system he had this year: Linehan, O Line, weapons (particularly Elliott), he should continue to progress. Take any of that away and he could back slide which would likely happen to any QB.

I actually think the fact that he had the line he did helped him progress quicker than he would have with another line. He got the time to actually learn how to step up in the pocket and read defenses. That's a year of muscle memory that is invaluable to his maturity as a quarterback.

The difference to me is he isn't a running QB. He can run but he always looks pass first. I think he will be more like Wilson as far as he progression goes. Other then Nick Foles I can't thinking of a passing QB who has had a drop off like that. Even then I think that was a case of D coordinators figuring Chip Kelly out.

I wasn't doubting his ability. I'm just saying that because he had a year to learn from a clean pocket, he's building muscle memory of how to stay in a pocket when it collapses around you.
What tends to happen with rookie quarterbacks is they get paired with terrible offensive lines, and they're under siege. They don't get a chance to scan the defense comfortably. And this tends to make them gun shy. I don't know at which point it takes for a quarterback to become shell-shocked (so to speak), but some quarterbacks (David Carr, Andre Ware, Tim Couch, Heath Shuler, etc.) never recover from being beaten up so much their first years. They start getting happy feet and assuming they're under pressure when they're not.

I believe some of those guys could have been good quarterbacks had they been in a situation like Dak's.

I think this board will have a meltdown if we drafted a TE but a guy like OJ Howard could do wonders for this offense.


Even if we could just get someone in Free Agency that is good at setting the edge and making plays downfield.. That would be huge for this offense.

I'd like to see Witten on the field a lot less during the regular season. Especially early in halfs of games.
