Lombardi: NFL admits call against Butler was wrong

We have to be good enough to overcome that...but that call was potentially a game-changer.
We can overcome some of that in the regular season, but when you are in the playoffs against the hottest QBs in NFL history, One bad call can make all the difference and as it turned out, It did here.

We had a controversial call go in our favor against Detroit in 2014 that helped us win that playoff game. What was the 3 questionable calls against us in playoff games?
That Detroit reciever facemasked Hitchens. Should have been offsetting.

Refereeing is soooo bad, I would be okay with a booth review of every penalty. I think the NFL could hit the 90% success mark :muttley:
But you are implying integrity within the officiating ranks and I'm quite sure that doesn't exist in this day and age.

I'm really sick and tired of this foolishness.
I agree @Sportsbabe , it's getting to a point where bad officiating has ruined the game and it's becoming unwatchable and for officials to shaft the Cowboys again to the same team in the playoffs is complete garbage and imo very odd to little to late now Blandino and his crew of stooges they can shove their apology and I'm also very happy that SB ticket prices took a nose dive after the Cowboys loss thanks in part to that trash call.

Even Rico Gathers said it was rigged in that vid I posted. Kind of funny and sad even players know. How can you give your all for a sport that may never reward you if you're not the predetermined winner?
All my extended family are Steelers fans and they say they are just glad that they are on the good side of their agenda. In fact, they all say that they love Dean Blandino. Oh, how I wish the tables would turn for us and the Steelers soon.

Unfortunately, that person has trouble with the rules himself.
That person knows the rules just well enough to pull the rug out from whichever team he wishes. KC feels robbed this week too even though their complaints are far less justifiable than ours are.

Folks - we are living in a Post 9/11 world, a Post Columbine, Sandy Hook, Aurora world also.
Stuff like this is going to get to a point where eventually, someone is going to go off the deep end and do something really tragic (like taking somebody out). People have gone off the deep end for less. I hope and pray it never gets to this. That would be the end of professional sports (as we know it).
Integrity is paramount - the NFL officials need to nip this in the bud (if there really is foul play going on). The fans need to keep their cool as well.

As much as I don't like bad calls on either team, I can understand if judgement calls doesn't always work out. But this 15 yard penalty on Butler was so unexpected, obscure and had such a large impact... just seemed unreal. After decades of whatching the NFL i have never seen anything as obvious and biased as that.

Now if they would just admit the missed PI on Witten, and the non-holding call against Irving we could at least have the satisfaction of the NFL acknowledging their own incompetence.

And Tony Corrente does NOT officiate another Dallas playoff game. Ever.
I hope neither him or Steratore ever officiate another Cowboys playoff game ever again that's twice in a row this crap happen against the same freaking team and their ineptitude is the reason GB was able to advance both times imo I'm the last person to buy into conspiracy theories but this is goes into a category of being fixed.

Yes, it was obscure, it certainly reeks of tampering. There was no judgement on the unsportsmanlike penalty, they went in waiting to call it. And it didn't happen, there was no huddle.

Forget an NBA Conspiracy Theory.......sooner or later an NFL Referee will say he fixed games. That is shameful.

The point is we squared the game after being 18 points down and when it was up to our defense to make a critical stop they failed once again like they always do against great QBs. Some of you will spend the entire offseason torturing yourselves over that call, like you did the Dez call. The facts are we got beat by a great QB.

That is your point. Not the point. I agree the defense needed to be better. I'll say early on the offense needed to be better. That being said rules are black and white. Thus when a ref calls a penalty, and it's applied incorrectly, AND that PENALTY contributes to points being taken away from any team it's a problem. And that is gonna especially apply when two teams are as equal as these two were.

I gave you my point and you're giving yours. We don't know if points were taking away, the penalty killed our drive that's all we do know for sure. Our defense got us beat and if some of you want to keep beating yourselves up over that penalty go ahead.

I was JUST starting to get over this loss and AZZ HAT Blandino has to come out and admit more asinine stupidity on his and the NFL's part. Yet he'll keep his job...and we get screwed AGAIN. Sweet.
