There may not be any collusion involved whatsoever but the league could inform all their officiating crews to identify and call penalties in a uniform matter--not just for one team but for all teams, during the regular and postseason. Presently, teams and fans are hopeful that certain officials call their games and are apprehensive whenever other referees are officiating their games because, in the NFL, officiated games aren't like a box of chocolates. Generally, teams and fans do know what they're going to get.

Green Bay averages 7 penalties a game. Against us they had 2 penalties.

I can excuse that as nothing more than a coincidence.

But, the flag on Butler really irks me because:

1. It hasn't been called in TWO YEARS in the entire league.

2. At the very worse, if you read the rulebook, it should have been called a 12 men in the huddle penalty instead of the unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.

3. It's even iffy that it was a 12 men in the huddle penalty.

That's where things become suspect. Especially in a league where the refs have shown that they don't know all of the rules (even common penalties).

They had to dig up this penalty and just when we hit a big play. To me, it comes off as something the ref(s) premeditated and knew they could call when the time was right. And for Blandino to back up that call when it has been substantiated that the league told other teams that it was not the right call....all I will just say is that it's real fishy as to what is going on here.

And if that results in poor ticket sales and tanking ratings...the league gets what they deserve.

The official seemed particularly defiant and snarky about it when he called it as well. Not just the standard tone when calling a foul. He seemed angry and yelled it out.

Even if all these perceived biases against us in officiating are real or not (and many other teams fans have similar thoughts about the officials - particularly the Lions it seems ) perception usually trumps reality. It's not good for the league when most fans start perceiving bias in refs whether it exists or not.

A real effort to make officiating more uniform and consistent is needed in the worst way.

They could learn to inform their officials before our games to seek to make the calls equitable. If you're going to call pass interference when the ball hasn't even released by the quarterback, then you need to call pass interference when our tight end is tackled in the end zone.

If you're not going to do that, then you need to be held accountable for it. The rule of thumb is that officiating should not affect the outcome of the game, so while it isn't "fixed," it's most definitely broken.

The play clearly showed that Pettigrew grabbed and tugged down Hitchens' face mask which is what helped him get separation. It should have been offsetting penalties. So, the pick up of the flag didn't really help us it was just a bad call for both teams.

I'm in Lion country, every-time that game comes up in conversation, that's the excuse lions fans use, as soon as I bring up the face-mask, the stuttering begins...they never bring up the fact that they had the ball with 2 minutes or so left, around mid field with a chance to drive for a TD to win...against an average D...

What is being discussed is some conspiracy theory against the Cowboys where all big calls go against this team. Somehow people keep forgetting that in our one playoff win in the last number of years we got the biggest call of the game. By far.
