I dont see where Ware says "omg, i get so many benefits going back to Dallas, when post Dallas has been great". I just cant see that.

Like what happens most often in these situations, it comes down to "dollars" and "sense".

But as a short-term, bridge player until your rookie(s) are ready, I think the team could do far worse. Like overpaying one of a mediocre crop of free agent pass rushers and quickly regretting it and being stuck in the contract for years.

Dude loves this team and franchise.

He was openly reminiscent and sad last season before the Super Bowl that he didn't achieve it with Dallas.

I don't see that. He took a paycut to not get cut by the Broncos last year, before a career low in sacks, and missing all of those games, followed by back surgery.

I don't see where his bargaining position for money will be too high.

I'd prefer it to getting raped by any of these mediocre free agents posing as pass rushers. If Ware doesn't work out, you move on without a huge salary cap hit. You throw money at these free agents and you're stuck being disappointed for years.

You're right but seems with injury history it would be a wasted roster spot when they could just try some youngster out. Yeah he has skins on the wall but sitting out 10 games would hardly be productive. Loyalty says bring him back for right price, reality says we need to build for the future if that's the best we're going to go after.

Again, I'm just looking at him as a bridge player, like George Selvie and Jermey Mincey were. Veteran guys brought in for some production until your young guys are hopefully ready.

I'd do it with Ware (at the right price of course), and Carr and Claiborne. A year to get me through until my rookies and young guys like Brown are ready to take over permanently.

And I'll say "thanks!" To all of them in 2018.

If the back checks out, we should sign him. We are not paying big free agent dollars to any DEs, Stephen has more or less said. So a guy that we know can give limited bursts of effective 3rd down edge pass rush, ala Freeney in the super bowl, is very worth it come playoff time.
