News: BTB:Why The Dallas Cowboys Should Try To Renegotiate Tony Romo’s Contract

It's the one that didn't bite your head off. :) Have a good day. Papa has better things to tend to.

It doesn't because Romo will still negotiate a new contract with the team trading for him. It literally doesn't make a bit of difference what Romo's contract status is with Dallas because Romo and the team trading for him will reach their own deal.

Romo's contract doesn't exist from the perspective of a team that would trade for him.
Thats interesting. If a club is trading for Tony they have his contract. Period. So, unless,Tony wants the trade and is willing to renegociate

Interesting. Maybe, l am not clearly following you. Romo really just has to set tight and wait it out. Jerry either trades him to a club willing to except his contract as its written or pay him 14 million as a back up or release him! After he is released Tony can negociate with whatever club that wants him and pays the most. ??

That wouldn't change anything. Re-doing his contract with Dallas only to get released changes nothing. Dallas would have the same dead money either way.
If Tony redid his contract...say at a lower salary..Jerry wouldn't trade him and Tony isn't playing back up in Dallas. That is the scam in this little drama. Tony gets released...there is very little room for anything else to happen. Tony will not redo his deal with Jerry. Tony is holding all the money cards here. The 14 million dollar back up. Imagine what a fool Jerry would like amongst his peers. Laughable.

Well that's the whole point. They would "get" whatever contract he has but at the same time they wouldn't execute the trade unless they had already reached an agreement with Romo on a new deal.

Jerry has to trade him to a club that is willing to trade away draft picks.

Yeah romo and his stupid video. Your a cowboy until further notice.

That video is extremely questionable.

Seems like a good dude, but why not wait until you're released. He played Stephen's hand....not saying that the ole' drunk Jerry didn't do that already.

Romo is a muracle...

I think Romo prefers to keep his contract as is to make it necessary for the team to cut him so he can renegotiate with another team. Otherwise, if he renegotiates with Dallas, the team might easily be tempted to keep him as its backup. He definitely wants to start with another team and realizes he won't be doing that with Dallas. I think it's just that simple.

I think this also gets into a level of trust that is or is not there between Romo and the Boys. If Romo was told he was going to be released and then the team changed their mind, what would keep the team from changing their mind again if Romo renegotiated his contract? Maybe they decide to just keep him.

Maybe Romo just does not trust the organization and as a result, is reluctant to redo his deal.............might be a possibility

You are closer to the truth than not. The cord has already been broken between Garrett and Romo. The FO did not support the return
of their starter QB who was out because of injury breaking the old traditional Cowboy rule. Romo is not, I repeat, not coming back for another
year as a backup. If the only option for Tony is to be a backup he most likely would retire. He wants to play and lead a team so I see little chance
of any contract adjustments until the day Tony is released. As I previously said, I believe all will be settled on or before the off-season workouts begin in about 3 weeks. The team will not want to risk him getting hurt and having another year of paying him.

I truly believe that there is a conflict of interest between Romo and the Cowboys. Whereas Romo wants to sign and start with another team, the Dallas brass apparently prefers to retain him, first and foremost. I can't honestly say as I blame Romo for distrusting the Dallas FO with that being the case. He's aware that his version of the ideal scenario for himself and the team's version of the ideal solution are totally opposite in nature and unfortunately, constitute a standoff. Currently, it certainly doesn't appear to be an amicable situation.

It really wasnt a true "goodbye" video.
He had been flooded with well-wishers and support on that Instagram account, so he sent short and casual video out that said thanks. He did not say good-bye.

Planes left the gate on Romo...its done and they are moving on.
