News: DMN: Tony Romo misses cut at Azalea Invitational

"Romo played in the Azalea from 2008 through 2012, but said his back problems kept him away the past four years."

Seems the guy with number 9 on his back had trouble on his "back 9"..... which stands to reason because he's been having problems with his back...or something.... OK now I'm confused.....

Tony Romo's run at the Azalea Invitational in Charleston, S.C., is over.
Romo, who followed his opening-round 77 on Thursday with consecutive rounds of 78, missed the cut. Romo finished at 19-over-par for three rounds and the cutoff was 8 over.

Romo said his opening round wasn't bad considering he had "only played three or four rounds this year," hadn't played tournament golf in almost four years and did not play a practice round on a course that has had some bunkers added since he last played here.

"I think you compartmentalize a lot of things in life. Everyone still has to get up and go to work, regardless of what's going on around you," Romo said when asked if golf provided an escape from the uncertainty of his professional career.

"Golf is great. I can still compete. Right now I stink, but I see signs of life. I'll be better tomorrow. I learned a few things about my game today."

Romo played in the Azalea from 2008 through 2012, but said his back problems kept him away the past four years.

He said he returned this year because he always enjoyed Charleston and it provides an opportunity to play in a tournament with his father, Ramiro Romo, who shot 76 Thursday.

The tournament also is providing family time. In addition to his father, Romo's mother, his wife and their two boys also are in town for the event.

Well let's just say he is like Tiger Woods.

I've been preaching this for a year now Tony wants competition start playing golf again

Tony needs to get his (golf) competitive edge back....if that means retirement from football and that he GETS OUT THERE practicing his swing, then so be it....but, Tony, baby, let us swing a trade to a team like Jacksonville to get their 2nd round pick and then the day after the draft, announce retirement

Here's a pleasant thought: Tony could still accept a job in the broadcast booth and get to play golf as well. There really is life after football. :)

I think this story is very telling .............playing competitive golf with his father surrounded by family is about as good as it gets......it also means he is fully healthy and isn't 100% concerned with the optics of golf taking away from any practice time

I think he may have turned a corner and will retire and take the "good life" over chasing a dream of winning a SB as the hero in HOU and maybe getting injured again and ruining his post-NFL golf future with his family

Golf is TERRIBLE for your back. FWIW........ 02
Seems like his back or at least his disc have come out of the surgery pretty well he's been doing a lot of work with his core for years since which is essential
I think his back issues are similar to mine and if he can avoid bending and lifting golf doesn't seem to bother me, "when I haven't lifted something stupid that is"
