Am I the only one here who hates coffee?

All my life I've always hated coffee. It tastes like mud to me. My brother hates it too. I think maybe I can taste a chemical in it that other people can't. You know that science experiment in high school where you put a little square piece of paper on your tongue and some people only taste paper, but others taste something bitter? I tasted the bitter so bad I nearly gagged. For me coffee has this awful, awful taste that I can't stand. It's the same thing with coffee ice cream of chocolates with coffee in it. I cannot have any of that without being totally grossed out.

No worries for any coffee drinkers out there. I'm not out to convert anyone. I just have a hypothesis that there's something in coffee that only some people can taste. It would make sense that my brother has the same reversion to coffee, as he's related to me and maybe has the same gene in his DNA that lets him taste whatever I'm tasting.

So I drink black tea or green tea instead.

The stronger the coffee, typically the more bitter it tastes. It's a bean. Not much else to it.

Love it. I have a low tolerance to it, too. So one large cup will last me all morning (strong, strong, strong and black).

But who needs coffee when booze will wake you up, too?

Caffeine pills are also awesome.

It's cuz all you drink are those tall cans of 2/11, Mike. Gotta go for the more appealing brands :)

LOL!

No, if I partake in alcohol it's either wine or some wussy drink like a screwdriver, white Russian or Pina colada.

Cream/milk froth, sugar, vanilla or hazelnut can always tone it down, make it more palitable ya..

Im not a fan of hot liquids, but I do love a good iced coffee. My Wife is exactly like the OP though, she gags at the very smell....

My breakfast drink (makes me look like a teenager but don't give skit)
You're not alone but went another route outside tea.

60 Calories and a ton of energy. Coffee smell/taste makes me gag, I used to work breakfast shifts as a kid and still can't stand it.

hate the taste of coffee as well.
love caffeine so get plenty in tea, diet soda and energy drinks but i can't do coffee.
maybe if i tried a really girled up version i could deal but that's too pansy and too expensive, lol.
it is a bean that is crushed and it tastes like dirt to me.

I had a 5th grade teacher that stank of coffee so bad I'd dread her walking by. It was horrible. Like she bathed in it.
I've done those mountain dew and also the monster juice mixes.
pretty good stuff.

No your not. I hate the smell of it especially hazelnut. It makes me quiet nauseating. As I told one of my colleague when she came in and sat down next to me with her hazelnut brew for a meeting, "You are going to finish that?" pointing to the coffee. "Because if you don't I am going to throw up on you." She looked stunned, but another colleague told her he really means it.

I drink less than 10 cups a year, if even that much. I don't dislike coffee but rarely crave one. Usually, it is to start off an early road-trip or something. When I do buy one, I will go to anywhere except Starbucks!

Give me a Mt Dew and I am a happy camper :D
