All my life I've always hated coffee. It tastes like mud to me. My brother hates it too. I think maybe I can taste a chemical in it that other people can't. You know that science experiment in high school where you put a little square piece of paper on your tongue and some people only taste paper, but others taste something bitter? I tasted the bitter so bad I nearly gagged. For me coffee has this awful, awful taste that I can't stand. It's the same thing with coffee ice cream of chocolates with coffee in it. I cannot have any of that without being totally grossed out.
No worries for any coffee drinkers out there. I'm not out to convert anyone. I just have a hypothesis that there's something in coffee that only some people can taste. It would make sense that my brother has the same reversion to coffee, as he's related to me and maybe has the same gene in his DNA that lets him taste whatever I'm tasting.
So I drink black tea or green tea instead.
