Dallas Cowboys
Round 1 (28): Quincy Wilson, CB, Florida
Round 2 (60): Adam Shaheen, TE, Ashland
Round 3 (92): Justin Evans, S, Texas A&M

Wilson has some of the best ball skills of any defensive back in this class, totaling 14 pass breakups and six interceptions. The Cowboys need more big and physical corners like Wilson (6-1½, 211) after seeing Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne depart in free agency. Dallas also lost safeties J.J. Wilcox and Barry Church, which was the impetus for the Evans pick. He can manufacture big plays (five interceptions), but Evans will need to play with better discipline in the pros. I love Shaheen's tape, and he'd be the perfect tight end to learn from veteran Jason Witten as Witten's career winds to a close. Shaheen ran a 4.79 40 at 278 pounds. That's ridiculous.

Not crazy about this mock, give me Walker in the 2nd if available

So we don't address pass rush DE until 4th round or later? Not happenin.

Could happen. We did lose 4 players in our secondary and only lost JCrawford on our DL.

Its just as big of need really. Offense could also use another weapon.

Then the Joneses and the coaches must think we have everything we need for a pass rush without adding anyone in the draft who can help (1st 3 rounds go before we pick someone there).

Well I hope we move down to get one or two more picks really.

Can't fill every hole we have with 7 picks. Secondary is certainly a need though, can't lose 4 players back there and just sign Carroll and think that things are ok.

If you def line heavy then you improve the players you have already.

Gotta pick up 3-4 def players in this draft.

People keep saying we lost Church and Wilcox, but Jones plays one of the positions.

Another TE in the 2nd round, and worrying about Witten longevity when he just singed an extension......

Yes, let's trade down so we can grab a few more guys - nevermind that some won't make the roster

You don't seem to realize that extension was nothing but a move to allow us to clear cap space if we needed it. There is no gauranteed money in there.

Since you brought that up, do you think both our 7th rounders will make the team??

Probably not, but who knows. But we can't put our head in the sand and think we will hit on all these picks again. We could definitely use more picks with all our needs.

I don't think they believe Witten will play out the extension. That was more for merit and if they needed to borrow against it.

Given the injuries to both Hanna and Swaim, I don't think they will completely ignore TE based on Gathers.

I know CB rankings are all over the place, but is Wilson a top 5 CB in this class by any account? It could go anyway and I don't think anyone truly knows, but if I had to bet I'd say Wilson ends up a lot closer to 60 than 28.
