I agree it seems like a play round, but sometimes it is just to throw a bone to whomever is sulking. Like Garrett did when he did not get Eifert, he got Escobar instead.

If any of the coaches on this staff even bring up drafting a TE, the old man needs to punch them in the mouth!

Well, he just couldn't even try. Witten being around just buried him. That's all. Gosh.

I'm sure he'll have a much better chance of displacing that bum Kelce in Kansas City.

'Get yo money for nothin' and your chicks for free...'

How is Tapper not factored in? You drafted him last year at the top of the 4th round because you thought he could help you. He missed the entire year due to a fluke birth defect. It's supposedly no longer an issue and he's ready to go.

Hasn't taken a snap yet to prove himself one way or the other.

Do you just rip up your scouting report on him and pretend he's a bust?

Hey, neither did Matt Johnson. How could he have not been factored into the 2013 draft?

Do you just rip up your scouting report on him and pretend he's a bust?

Did people forget he lasted until the 4th round in a weaker DL draft last year for some reason?

He is the newest unicorn until he proves it.

I'd like you to support your claim that "it's supposedly no longer an issue". Everything I've read says just the opposite.

Are you instead advocating counting on a guy who missed his entire rookie year with a back issue? Is that the more prudent approach in your opinion?

Reports are it's a non issue as long as it's managed. If you saw something else I missed it.

My point is the team just drafted him and this pars defect is not supposed to effect him long term. So if your scouts really like him and your doctors are telling you it's not career threatening, why would you pretend he's a non factor in 2017? Why would the team have the mindset that he's not a potential upgrade for next season?

A "weaker" DL class. "Weaker" as in not as deep as this year at DE not weaker in terms of your typical draft.

Since when is the top of the 4th round a no man's land for talent?

Matt Johnson came into the league injury prone. So missing the first year should have caused the Cowboys concern but it shouldn't have changed their opinion on the player's ability. I thought he sucked. They didn't.

So the new highly intelligent theory from the draft gurus is if a player misses the first year he's like no longer in consideration for the future. You're not adding anything when he comes back.

Makes sense.

He could come in and dominate just like you think he is capable of.

But that should not impact a smart team's ability to distinguish potential to the point they dismiss even better talent in the upcoming draft because they "think" he can do it just as well as another player with a stronger health profile. He may be "okay" but I don't trust Dallas' ability to judge medical issues in the least, we have been burned by thinking that way before..

He should be gravy, not factored in as part of the solution.

Charles Tapper - Pars defect

Tapper could become a productive player, but it's not clear his back condition will allow him to make it to a second contract.

My point is the team just drafted him and this pars defect is not supposed to effect him long term. So if your scouts really like him and your doctors are telling you it's not career threatening, why would you pretend he's a non factor in 2017? Why would the team have the mindset that he's not a potential upgrade for next season?

And my point is that I have not seen anywhere - even from the player himself - where this is a non-issue going forward. Conversely, I've seen reports like the one I listed that support cause for concern.

If you can show me something to support your claim that it's a non-issue, I'd likely change my stance. But until then, I'm not counting on a guy who's shown nothing other than the ability to miss an entire season.

More "sense" than relying on someone who has only proven to be unreliable to this point.

Based on your thinking, let's pencil in Randy Gregory as our starter this year because we plan on the league discontinuing testing for weed.

Dallas Cowboys
Round 1 (28): Quincy Wilson, CB, Florida
Round 2 (60): Adam Shaheen, TE, Ashland
Round 3 (92): Justin Evans, S, Texas A&M

Wilson has some of the best ball skills of any defensive back in this class, totaling 14 pass breakups and six interceptions. The Cowboys need more big and physical corners like Wilson (6-1½, 211) after seeing Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne depart in free agency. Dallas also lost safeties J.J. Wilcox and Barry Church, which was the impetus for the Evans pick. He can manufacture big plays (five interceptions), but Evans will need to play with better discipline in the pros. I love Shaheen's tape, and he'd be the perfect tight end to learn from veteran Jason Witten as Witten's career winds to a close. Shaheen ran a 4.79 40 at 278 pounds. That's ridiculous.
No passrusher in the first 3 rounds? Lol, literally!

Take a look at who McShay left on the board.

Harris, Watt, Charlton and Bowser.

Wow. If Dallas does something like this, I may lose my mind. And I even like Quincy Wilson a little.
